Battery remove and refit anything I need to know

Feel stupid even asking this at my age but never.haf the need to remove a.batery on a modernish car

So it may seem pretty obvious but I've read about deleting keys and issues in general when removing and reattaching the battery

I need to change the hid bulbs and don't want to screw anything up in the process like immobiliser or radio code etc

So negative off first then positive
Keys nowhere near ignition when refitting
And reattach In reverse??

Thank you In advance

Hi Malcster,

As you said,

Negative off first then positive
Keys nowhere near ignition when refitting
And reattach In reverse.

First, remove the headlamp's external plastic access cover.

second, if you have a smartphone take a couple of images inside the headlamp once the external cover is off and at each stage of disassembly as it will help is you struggle to put it back together as it can be fiddly.

then unplug the wiring making note of which way up the plug was, then the metal wire clip which holds the bulb in place can be pushed / pulled to one side which releases the bulb.

Take note which way up the bulb is facing when you take it out or you can spend ages fiddling upon reassembly.

other than that it is a simple task

Thanks for the reply
Must admit it's years since I've taken a battery off a car
