Headlight wiring help needed

Hi everyone! I'm just over 24hrs into owning my fn2 and I have come across something which has really done my head in. One of the previous owners has spliced together the sidelights and dipped connections so that the dipped beam comes on with the sidelights. Looking at the cables I'm not happy with what's been done as looks like a bodge job to me as well so I really want to put it back to stock. Only problem I have is that I'm not good at sorting connections albeit I have tackled basic electrical issues in the past especially when I had my old MB Civic. Is there anyone in the South Manchester/ Cheshire area that's good with electrics and could help or give some advice? Should I just get some wire and choc blocks to join the cables up again properly then tape it all up?

Shame one of my first threads has to be a problem lol

Here is the wiring diagram so you know which wires go where.
