Random Limp Mode

2007 Honda Civic 2.2 iCTDI

So my engine management light is on when I start the car. Car operates and revs fine. I drive but as soon as I stop at a junction it drops into limp mode. If I stop the engine and park for a moment it sometimes works again inediately and sometimes is still in limp mode. Any ideas?

Very Occaisionaly the engine management light will turn off as well. Recently I’ve had the turbo boost pipe replaced as it has come loose and been damaged. I have serviced the EGR system including the valve and cooling pipe (all gaskets replaced).

You need to read the stored trouble code. Otherwise it's just guessing.

If you had put your location then maybe someone with code reader would offer to read it for you...

Thanks! I have tried with a little mobile one my neighbour has (which has worked before) but it wouldn’t connect this time (connected to his car no problems).

I am in Llanfairpwll on Anglesey, North Wales.

Try another code reader... they are meant to be compatible but there's something odd about 8th gen Civics!

Ideally get your own. The ELM327 Bluetooth types can be got for less than a fiver and work well with Android devices using free apps.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Right I have a reader that works.

Codes being thrown up are:

P0102 - mass or volume air flow circuit low
P0113 - temp sensor 1 circuit high
P1401 - no description but seems to be EGR related.

Any thoughts ideas or help?

Your initial symptoms almost sound as though the isn't a solid electrical circuit for all the computers and sensors to function properly. Modern cars are very reliant on the electronics, so is your battery in good condition and do all the power/earths have sound connections?

Battery was replaced about 8 months ago so that should be ok.

I’ll double check the grounding.

Any other ideas? Or anyone had similar?

Delete them all (as they could easily be historic codes that are unrelated to the current problem) then see which one(s) come back after the problem next happens.
