obd2

I have been given a RAC OBD2 reader and have tested it on my wife's car OK. I can't get it to work on my civic it says Link Error any idea what I am doing wrong?.

There is nothing wrong with the car so I am not too worried.

Vauxhall use a completely different OBD2 protocol to honda.
Your reader might not be compatible.

It is a generic one that is ment to be used on all vehicles after 2002 that use the OBD2

Has anyone used OBD2 on their civic?.

I Have in the past borrowed one off of a mechanic mate. This particular unit had specific software for different manufacturers. (don't know what the make was sorry)

To my knowledge, the obd2 standards specify generic codes - but the standards also allow for non generic codes to be used by manufacturers as well as data to be saved within not standard locations - meaning that a generic device will not be able to read all codes and / or freeze data information available
