rev meter next to speedo

Hi all. First post here as a new civic owner
Quick question - do you need to do anything (other than rev the engine) to get the rev display that's to the left of the speedo to work? Seems no matter what speed I'm doing at whatever rpm the display doesn't change.

Many thanks!

Well, you do have to get the revs quite high for it to register. Think of it as a shift indicator.

But first you have to enable it - it's in the menu for the on board computer thing. Rev Lights not coming on - Civinfo Wiki

Welcome to the site,

just to add to that, if the white text 'rev' is already showing, it means the option has already been activated - if this feature was switched off via the menu, this backlit text would not appear. I know on my diesel that the rev indicators only start coming on when i'm approx 500rpm from the redline

And some diesels that have been remapped by Celtic tuning (if it is second hand) disabled the rev lights - you may have 190bhp instead of the 140bhp you thought you had!
