Central locking not flashing the indicators

Hello all,

Last night when I locked up my car at 6:30pm it all worked fine. I got up this morning and noticed that when I lock/unlock the car using the fob it no longer flashes the indicators.

The indicators work as turn signals, and the central locking locks the car, but the indicators aren't flashing when I use the fob.

I'm not sure what this signifies, but I'd prefer them to flash. Before I go back to the dealers, anything I can try? The warranty ran out last month, Bah.

It does that if the bonnet isn't properly closed - something to check.

If the indicators are not flashing, the user's manual says that either a door, tailgate or the bonnet is not properly closed.

Or at least the car thinks one of those is not closed correctly. Sensor fault?

But should that not show up on the display when turning the ignition on though?

Not if it's the bonnet. The display doesn't show that.

Is it not right that the car doesn't lock if it is a door or the boot that is open? Only locks if it is the bonnet that is open

I thought the flashing indicators were to let you know the alarm was set ?
Leave the window open... set the alarm..stick your hand through the window

I've slammed the door, boot, and bonnet shut and it's still doing it. I can't see where the sensors are on the boot or bonnet but the door ones push in and out freely.

The central locking definately works, the car is locked up and the interior light comes on when I press the fob.

Anything else to check? There are no fuses for this.

I remote locked, then unlocked using the key and the alarm didn't go. So I guess the alarm is jiggered.

Is this back to the dealer type job? How much is this going to cost? I've only just shelled out for a service, 4 new tyres, and respray.

Same Problem!

Hey MisterTee

How did you get on? For a week I've been experiencing exactly the same problem and have had no joys finding a fix myself. I'm also outside warranty

Did you take it to the dealer in the end?

Set the alarm and try the doors (also looking at the rocker switches through the window). I know in this instance you have checked the doors are locked but it could be the locks are not engaging. If the solenoid sticks, either because it's another cheap part or because of the cold the cable can unwind!

Mister Tee found a problem with the bonnet sensor which is built into the catch, see here

Hi
Just like above I am out of warranty, same issue. Can anyone confirm that this is the source of the problem before. So interested if it was fixed.

Alarm completely disabled

Well, I'm still not having any joys finding the route cause of the problem. The doors are locking fine, no problem there. But its as if the alarm is completely disabled - no flashing indicators, no red flashing light on the dash... nothing.

Any other suggestions welcome!

Hi. Earlier I opened the bonnet & unplugged that sensor in the latch, plugged it back in & locked the car. Lights flashed but when I opened it with the remote it didn't flash. So I deffo think it connected but trying to explain that to a dealer to look at could be the problem. Might try a good auto electrician first.
