This is very odd I was out shopping and had the exact same problem?? I've came on here to find a solution like everything else.... and oo look you have the exact same problem?

At first I thought it could be the sensor, then maybe the arm stock connected to the steerin wheel.. also my windscreen was replaced ages ago
and the silicon along the top of the windscreen looks broken and worn thought water may be getting in...

So I have no idea whats causing this maybe the crazy amounts of rain thats been going on, also my engine light has now came on ??? and the engine fan is going nuts even when I switch the engine off it still hums away??

Bloody god dam water !!

Hmm, both problems sound horrible

Wipers staying on even though the switch (stalk) is set to off sounds like a stalk problem as im pretty sure even if it was a stuck relay it's relying on a feed from the stalk. If you are able to disconnect the wiring harness for the wipers near the steering wheel im sure the wipers should stop, perhaps the plug has come a little loose? If not it may be a faulty unit and may need replacing. Just gives you somewhere to start

azztech30 your problem sounds even worse, the engine fan staying on after you have shut down the engine?? That sounds sort of like a foreign thing where the engine remains running to allow the turbo to spool down and cool. I can only imagine though that there is a logic circuit that detects your engine over a certain temperature and keeps the fan running to cool it. Is it possible that you have a temperature sensor problem, maybe coolant or oil temperature? Which engine light is it that has come on? You may need a diagnostic reader to tell you the fault code unless you can find fault yourself

Bloody Auto Wipers !!

Cheers burning, yes I am totally worried now reading other threads here...

I'm scratching my head thinking what I've done recently which could cause this I have recently changed the front grill to a type-R but took all Type-R badges off and put on a silver badge. So dont know if this is letting water in causing an issue..? but really cant see it..

Other people with this issue have also experienced warning lights on the dash but from what I have seen people have had new ECU's, new firmware, new wires fitted, new controller all with different results.

I'm just angry as no warranty left on the car I've still got an electric drivers wing mirror problem and this.. if someone else has this issue with the wipers and had a fix please let us know cause this is really doing my head in, hope its an easy fix as really cant afford to fix this..

Thanks again

There are several posts on the forum about problems with the auto wipers, the cause seems to be a faulty wiper motor, approx 300 to fix.
I had new wiper blades fitted the other day and the problem is now worse.
Ie, fine drizzle on Thursday - auto setting at the minimum setting. Wipers going continuously at double speed for about 10 wipes. Then similar at normal speed. Then they switched to intermittent, but I had to turn up the sensitivity as they weren't wiping often enough. Then they went back to continuous double speed. They then park about 4 inches up the screen. The motor is also starting to get noisy as well. Not impressed, I no longer have a usable intermittent wipe.
Perhaps we need a survey to find out how many cars have these problems.

Right Frasermc,

This is my finding today.. My girlfriend had parked the car in a park under loads of trees and there was a grease like film over the car only noticed due to the frost...

Also I recently changed my front side lights bulbs to white LED ones which when I bought them advised BMW's dont like them because of the low level voltage and causes the system to go a bit Pete Tong...

I also had led bulbs for the number plate, so I removed these first and all seemed well then the wipers starting playing up again.. so I put the bulbs back in and washed the windscreen and the sensor area.

And all is good.... untill about 10mins, then I took out the bulbs and all is okay for the meantime, will keep u updated,

Also does anyone know how to reset the sensors? seen that on other sites they just said ''Yes you just need to reset the sensor'' ?? mm odd if someone knows let us know thanks !!

But for the meanwhile all is good....

Hi.Think this is a common wiper motor problem. Think TomTank is right. You'll probably need a new wiper motor.I've got same on my 06 SE non auto wiper. Worse when cold too.Hanging out til it totally fails.

hmm

Hi guys, i have noticed an issues with mine over the last 2 days.

The wiper blades are working etc but when it comes to them stopping at the bottom of the windscreen (finishing it's cycle etc) they are stopping anywhere but at the bottom.

Sometimes half way up the screen or at the top - driving me mad now and worried they will pack in.

Really dont want to have no wiper blades doing 140 motor way miles a day, could be trouble really fast with the recent rain on the M6

May get her booked in as i cant take any risks, only risked it this morning due to no rain.

Mission :-to find cheaper option for wiper motor

Yes mine is out of warranty aswell....

Bloody typical.. however I'll be buying the parts cheaper and getting
my mate to fit them

The funny thing is all the lights on the dash are off car driving superb
very odd anyways good luck mate !!

Oh before I go you can get a wiper motor from 30-70 on either ebay
or breaker yards..

But cant be sure it wont go on the blink but hey 300...

If I manage to get a cheap solution cause I'm on the hunt hopefully
we cant get a source for cheap wiper motor to fix this issue !!

Cheers

Hi,
Blinkin flip !.
looked at trying to replace motor myself too. Looks a bit more complicated than I thought. A very common build fault me thinks. Try 27/7 spares for a second hand one as an option. Good look. Still hanging out til mine fail totally.

lol love it Blinkin Flip!! indeed..

Yes your not joking about trying to do it yourself but have found
a guide looks like only bit to struggle is sliding it out to access the motor.

But thanks I'll try them for used motor so far came across ones at 56
with a years warranty, now I'm just struggling to get a ECT Sensor no
idea were to get one from or the cost

Anyway anything I find I'll let you all know and yes this is very common

I popped the car into Honda today and they said it could be an earthing issue or motor issue. Either way i would need to re-book in for a full check.

all places near me cant do any better than next Friday , it could of stopped working all together by then or stop when im on the motorway.

Finding out what else can be done sooner and potentially cheaper by the looks of things.

Help is near !!

Hi Guys,

Sorry at work but I have found a motor for 65 with 1yr warranty but just to confirm part number etc. I also found a guide on this replacement to be honest with patients and care can be done!! you need 10mm 13mm and ratchet set and an extension bar.

Sorry links on home PC.. if you all want I'll be the trial and error hopefully order this and take pictures along the way, and do what I can.

From what I have seen you remove a plate which is the same to remove to gain access to spark plugs and move another 3 peices (from memory)

So wish me luck will report as soon as I get stuck in..

Arron
