1.8 wont start

Hello
First post and looking for some pointers. I went to see a 06 1.8 ex at a garage but the battery was flat so i didnt get to drive it it look good so i was still interested. waited for a call from the garage to say it was ready for a test drive. but was told that the key had lost its code so the key needed to go to a honda dealer. waited again now the garage says that it wasnt the key code and they are replacing something else the sales guy didnt know.
Do any of you guys recognise the symptems? what could they be replacing? should i be worried?
the car is a good price and good spec so i am still temped.

any comments welcome.

theres plenty of civics on the market so you should easily find another if not at least get a warranty on it

The car is in a VW dealership so probably not familiar with the immobiliser.
I think I would need a warranty if I went ahead with it.
Do Honda dealers do extended warranty for cars they have not sold?

Thanks for the reply Lee and Duncan

+1
Connecting jump leads with the key in the ignition wipes the key.
But ECUs are being fried by current surge as well.
Walk away mate
