Parrot help...

Ok, so today I was setting up the Parrot Mki9200, and got to the wiring part...

no joy, I followed the instructions, followed the guide on here, I have the correct SOT908 lead, and yet when I turn the ignition on, the Parrot doesn't boot up...

Any thoughts?
Or anyone who can talk me through this?

Please

It's a matter of connecting the 12V ignition to the cigarette lighter I think.

Does anyone have any experience of how to do this?

You definitely don't need to connect anything to the cigarette lighter. All the wiring is a bit daunting at first, but actually there is only one way of attaching the SOT lead correctly so I don't really know how you could have done it incorrectly. Just check all the connections and make sure everything is pressed in properly. Is everything attached into the blue box properly?

There should be two (I think) spare "mute" wires, leave them unattached (it's probably sensible to insulate them). And swap the red/orange wires around.

Does the radio still come on and play through the speakers?

Yeah, everything is connected as it should be to the SOT lead.

2 spare leads - check.

Radio still works fine.
Could it be a problem with the Parrot?

The Parrot kit was faulty, replaced with another, and it worked straight away!

Does all your buttons on the steering wheel still work, i.e volume and so on. I wanted to purchase a kit, however the gentleman in Halfords kind of made it clear that it will not work. He mention how i will not be able to control the radio, or CD by using the steering wheel buttons. Please help as i REALLY like the look of the Parrot kit.

Thanks

The parrot kit comes with a remote control as standard.
The standard kit doesn't use any of the steering wheel controls.

You need the separate unika box to be able to use the steering wheel controls

And no, the standard kit does nothing to the steering wheel controls. Slap the Halfords muppet
