Dash Cam install

Hi all,

Thinking ahead ready for delivery of my shiny new Civic and I was wondering how to wire in my dashcam the same as it was on my 9th gen. I did have it wired to the option connector in the fusebox, can anyone confirm whether I can do this on the 10th gen please?

Thanks,

Mike

Which dashcam do you have? I'm thinking about getting one (it's a shame you can't tap into the two cameras already in place!)

If you cant do it via the option connector use the following PDF guide.

It was written for my impreza in mind but will still work for the civic.

@foddy - its a Cobra CDR840e (I think its discontinued now) with a cheap wire in kit from Amazon. Images are quite good, software is a bit basic but does the job and the unit is quite discrete.

@Grayfox - thanks for the instructions, I may look at that route again as I did have it wired up that way on the previous civic but for some odd reason it never went off. After much messing about with different fuse circuits I ended up using the option connector as it did what I needed without draining the battery. I'm hoping the 10th gen has an option block socket in the fusebox so I can just reuse my already neat wiring job

I have been following this thread because I am planning to hardwire my Nextbase dashcam into my new Civic when I get it.
I presently have it plugged into the 12v outlet in the centre console of my Focus, so all I need to know is which number fuse is Ignition Live in the passenger compartment fuse box(assuming that's where it is) in the 10G Civic please?

Got any dimensions, pin pitch?
and do you have the 10th gen service manual to know the pinouts and wire colors?

I did mine (nextbase 312gw) in my fn2 and tapped into the stereo fuse with the hardwire kit and used a bolt on the brake pedal mounting plate for an earth.

The 10th gen option connector.

The workshop manual question is a separate question.

Pin outs and colours yes I can get them.

As for the pin sizes, i'm struggling to get the pins out of the plug. I could show some images of the plug against a ruler if that's any help?

Yeah that would help.

Both the X & Y axis, if you can get the Z axis even better.

Will see if I can find a plug for it.

On the 10g the accessories plug is separate from the fuse box / BCM its a plug clipped to the bottom of the fuse box. In the wiring diagrams they call it options connector for fog light . I posted the pin outs and colours in my first reply, in the fuse box photo its the white plug at the bottom of the fuse box with nothing connected to it. I can email you the pictures if you want?

Trying to see if I can find a plug that will fit.
There are so many options for 3x2 plugs.

Will look forward to hearing which fuse they connect to, hopefully with a photo.
I have the 412GW in my present car but will be transferring to my Civic when I get it.
I am planning to buy the Nextbase hard wire kit from amazon for 16 quid I think it is.

P.S. I'm assuming you have a 10G Civic and not an FR-V that it states on your profile.
