Sport line electronic faults

I took delivery of a 1.0 sport line 2 weeks today, a decision I am slightly regretting now.

It has four niggles so far...

The sat-nav has no idea where it is. the compass is usually around 90degees out. I live on the north west coast, but for the past 2 weeks I have apparently been sailing around in the Irish sea!

The touch screen / android doesn't always start up. The screen stays black (apart from when pressing climate control) and even the volume buttons on the steering wheel won't work - not good if a song comes on that you don't like, you have to turn off the engine and start again to be able to mute it!

The camera doesn't always activate on reverse.

Audio from USB stick, always starts from album 1, track 1, every time I start the engine! I am sick and tired of Adele - Daydreamer! 9th Gen SR carried on playing from where it left off when the engine was turned off. (same USB stick)

Obviously I will take it to be looked at when I get chance, but has anyone else encountered any of these issues?

Things I miss from my 9th Gen SR and hence the regrets...
1 Cylinder
800ccs
A proper handbrake.
Glass Roof.
Parcel shelf.
Comfortable seats.
And the biggest one of all, heated seats!

Oh and I still miss the HID lights on my 8th Gen..

Great, I've signed all the paperwork and taking delivery of mine next week!

The SatNav I am not too worried about, I will be using Google Maps... although your 2nd issue might stop that from happening!

I'll keep an eye out for these on mine and I'll report back!

@OP - With those first issues I think that one needs to go back, that's a lot of faults in my book.

The faults you mention all lead back to the Connect headunit in one way or another; Have you tried a full restart? (Hold power button until shutdown)
Could just be that it needs a restart.

Don't ponce around with it, take it back to the dealers and reject it. That'll get them sorting it out PDQ. See HERE

Hopefully mine is a one-off. I'd like to try Google Maps, but not sure how to. Unless I'm missing something obvious, I cannot see any way of installing anything apart from Honda's own apps,

Holding the power button does absolutely FA! Again am I missing something here?

I will certainly be taking it back when I get time. Just curious really to see if any one else has encountered any of these issues.

You would use google maps via either CarPlay or Android Auto depending on what flavour phone you have.
Otherwise do a search for “Hondahack”

A re-boot will happen if you hold the power button (top touch screen button) for about 10 seconds and will then get the pop-up message asking if you want to reboot.

Thanks Steve, I was being a bit thick, holding down the physical dimmer button on top! (Am sure I read somewhere that was the way to do it though!)
So... A re-boot seems to have cured the satnav issue, I now have a little satellite icon on the top bar that was missing before.

Only time will tell with the other things.

USB playback still resets to track 1 album 1 on power-up though. Can anyone confirm that this is, or is not the norm please?

I can confirm this is not normal, my head unit starts where it finished from the last switch on.

Out of intrest, have you tried a different USB drive?
I was using a cheapo crap one at one point, which would reload to first track / album, probably due to absymall RW speeds, but that was cured with a decent USB.

I haven't yet, I assumed that because it behaved correctly in the 9th gen. it would be ok here. I will give it a go.

Not an unreasonable assumption methinks.

If it worked in the 9g, I'd expect it to work here - worth a go though.

Update...

Everything still working fine since the re boot.

A different USB drive with less tracks is behaving itself, so I just need to work out if it is the amount of tracks or R/W speed that causes the issue.

Thanks all for your input.

How many tracks/folders did you have on the old one? For the record, I'm using a 64Gb SanDisk cruzer fit, not particularly fast, with 180 folders and just under 4k tracks of vbr mp3s. So you have a benchmark to test around. No problems here. Starts where it left off, unless it does the refresh restart thing. Which happens about once a month.

It has 4000 tracks in 300 folders and takes up 17Gb of a 64Gb drive. Apparently read speed is around 16MB /s

Going hard on the selection there
I'm probably not far short of that; another thought that comes to mind is what file type are you using?
I've found the headunit is most comfortable with mp3 as you'd expect, it tends to struggle with some FLAC files, so if you've got lots of FLAC that may be contributing

It may be the number of folders. I've read somewhere, can't remember exactly where, that 255 is the limit of folders it can handle due to the fat32 formatting. Someone on civicx also mentioned that beyond 255 it doesn't shuffle but will continue to play through in standard mode. Worth decreasing the number of folders to see. 16Mb/s should be plenty. I'm around 17Gb as well.
