Looks good. Edd sent me the fitting instructions today. Im going to have a look under the bonnet tomorrow and see if I’ll be able to follow the instructions and fit it myself. If it seems do-able, I’ll place an order after my service on Monday.

I'm pleased to hear this, the extra torque is obviously doing its job

Fitting is pretty straightforward, its a 10 minute job. For anyone else who is interested the fitting instructions are now availabe on the product listing here: https://www.bluesparkautomotive.com/...1-0-vtec-126ps

Hi Edd,

I purchased one of your kits the other week. I have tried to remove the airbox to install but the screw for the jubilee clip is bunted and i am struggling to get it removed. Any suggestions on how to get it loosened?

Thanks

If you can't get the screw undone on the jubilee clip I would try drilling it out or hacksawing the clip off then put a new one on after

Thanks, I got it sorted with a wrench

All installed okay, not to bad the hardest part was removing and reinstalling the airbox.

In order to switch tuning module from C to D or E - is RON99 fuel required or recommended?

Its strongly reccomended to run at least 97RON. It isn't that the car won't run on Map E with 95 RON, its just that it will pull timing, and result in less power and worse MPG.

I notice you are in Northern Ireland, and I appreciate there is a lack of 99 RON options. If you can get BP Ultimate 97 RON that is certainly a lot better than 95.

Had my Bluespark box fitted now for a few weeks. No problems fitting it, very clear instructions. I fitted a K&N air filter as well and use Tesco Momentum 99 petrol. The change in how smooth the car is, power delivery and pulling power is excellent. I travel regularly to Liverpool about 126 miles mainly motorway, used to get 57 mpg, now get 61 so a nice improvement there as well. I would highly recommend fitting one of these boxes. Declared the mods on my insurance as well and it didnít put it up that much.

Thanks Edd,

No stations offer 99ron here unfortunately but i live beside a Sainsburyís that does their Super Unleaded Petrol at 97ron. Filled 40l last week so it was mixed with 95 but will run it low and keep using it. The mpg has slightly improved so thatís a good sign as well.

its great to see that the 1.0litre engine is also benefitting from this tuning module as well as a few of us with the 1.5. it really does make the car feel a whole lot different and the top end power is very handy when on motorways!. in July I am booked in for a high flow downpipe and larger throttle body to be fitted then I will be returning back to blue spark in august for a slight tweak to the box. I cannot wait to see them work their magic after these mods I nearly opt for a CAI but instead I've just gone for the PRL stage 1 as I think the OEM air box is just right for this engine.

Wow you are getting 61 mpg with the 1.0l turbo? - top iím getting on the motorway is 47, albeit without 99 petrol as we canít get that here...

The PRL Cobra CAI is still much better then the stage 1 performance wise. PRL claims it can get gains of +10hp (15hp with race MAF and remap).

very true the PRL cobra is a great bit of kit but with living in England getting a lot of rain and never know when its coming, I think it would cause me some problems seeing's the filter is situated right near the wheel fender. also the 10hp is not gained until you are well in the upper rev range and with the driving I do I would not benefit from this. I opted for the PRL stage 1 as it is just a green cotton panel filter and replaces the tubing from the MAF to the turbo inlet pipe so at least in a lower rev range I will feel the response like you can from the k&n panel filter people are running I would rather spend the cobra fund on something like a downpipe to be honest. if I choose to go down a ktuner route in the future I may consider the PRL cobra.

Anyone know which map 99RON should run on? Seems like it is in C at the moment as default. Should i change it to D or E before fitting it or should I test it with C first?

Good luck with the install, not too bad once you get the air box removed.

It recommends starting on C initially to check that it works okay then move to D and check no issues before setting E if you require. I moved to gradually to E although I can only get 97RON over here.
