exhaust hole

sorry if this is in the wrong section ,

I have a queary regarding the exhaust system on my 08 civic ,just noticed tonight that ther is a small rectangular hole on my exhaust ,its on the drivers side about a foot in from the edge of the bumper it is about 25 mm long and 10mm wide it looks as though it is meant to be there ie; looks as if it is machined to that shape and has no sharp edges as you would expect to find if the wife had reversed over something sharp there is a little water trickiling out of it and if you put your finger over it you can feel exhaust pressure , doesn't sound as if its blowing anyone shed some light on this one

I'd guess it's a drain hole so water can drain rather than sit inside the exhaust.

I took some pictures a while back to post on here and I've just been looking at them and I think Josh is right, the Type R doesn't have it.

I wouldn't see why it would be needed for water as it would just evaporate when it warms up or you rev up

Maybe something Speical for 1.8

Don't forget some people only do short journeys and so the exhaust never really gets to a temperature when all moisture would be expelled.

It's only a suggestion that the hole is a drain, of course I could be completely wrong.

What is it

To those in the trade this is commonly referred to as an O Hole.
This is an advancement on the older type A hole.
Its used to help expel Noxious gas and liquids after consuming dodgy fuel.
