imo K&N's just stop you replacing with a new one every year at £20-odd each time. cheaper in the long run if your really that hard up for a few rounds of pop a year. just the hassle of cleaning the K&N & buying cleaning fluid vs a straight swap with OEM.
being free flowing, they filter less but still well within acceptable tolerances. not like the UK is an extremely dusty country like some parts of the world are.
as someone with K&N on his 9gen, no negative effects other than increased intake & turbo noises - no drone or whatnot.
