ANY HELP APPRECIATED: All kinds of issues...

So a few weeks ago my car developed the following symptoms:

Car won’t start with initial turns of the key. It turns over and fires but only for a few seconds then cuts out.

After 12 or so attempts it fires and stay on but idles at 600RPM. No reponse from the accelerator pedal at this point.

It idles for 60 seconds or so and slowly creeps up to 800RPM. At the point the accelerator pedal will begin to respond.

Car can be turned off and restarted at this point.

When driven the car jerks about as if the power is intermittent. There is also heavy black smoke under acceleration. The turbo whines at high revs (3500+).

Engine management light is on.

Have recently cleaned and replaced all gaskets on the EGR valve and cooling pipe.

Any one got any thoughts what may be the issue?

As it's a derv, fueling issue? - fuel pressure relief valve maybe, they've been known to fail.

The turbo boost pipe had come loose and been damaged. Once repaired car doesn’t have the starting or running issues. However it has picked up a new weird symptom: randomly dropping into limp home mode ( more details posted in electrical section).
