Insurance

So I am very close to putting an offer in on a FD2 imported from Japan as they are much more affordable now but my main concern is the insurance!

I am aware that insurance is going to be more being an import and I did a quote online but it came out to be £1.4k! I had an FN2 before and it was only around £750 which I felt was not too bad considering I am only 24.

Guess my question is how much more on average would I be expected to pay for an import?

Have you tried brokers mate like Chris Knott or similar? They are usually great for specialist vehicles.

I have not tried brokers yet as I wanted to get a rough price guide on comparison websites but I am a bit put off from ringing them up now after seeing the prices on there. I am currently with Chris Knott actually and they quoted me £740 for an EP3 which doesn't seem too bad. I have to prove that I owned a FN2 before though to show I have had experience with these type of cars due to my age so I thought getting an import FD2 would be pushing it!

Greenlight have been very good with my car ( admittedly not FD2 ) but I'm pretty sure you have to be over 25

Best to give the specialists a call. I'm with Greenlight and they have been spot on. All mods declared and no price increase
