Running costs do not = the power or fun factor. That is all you need to read really.
But I will go into a bit more detail.
Every time you drive it, you are expecting a 'bong' or a 'ting' from the computer to say something has gone wrong. The Evo is great for sitting at the lights knowing that there is not much that can pull up next to you and beat you, and nothing like sitting there and some poor chav tries to race you and you blitz them (of course on a private road with traffic lights :-p)
Took it around the ring and it just lacked excitement. I have a lot more confidence with Honda too. I managed 20+ laps in on day of the ring 2 years ago and you couldnt keep me off track. The Evo.... Well I did 6 all day and just didnt enjoy it. Its a good car if you want to be a lazy driver but if you like to get involved with driving hard I would stay away from the X anyway. Im not sure what the IX's or VIII's are like but the X is just too watered down and just doesnt give you a WOW feeling while driving it hard.
Plus single figure MPG returns in S-Sport mode and still getting better lap times around the ring in the FD2 say it all for me anyway.
I know some people on here will prefer the Evo but this is from my experience.
