Big_Rich's FN2

Hey guys,

Just thought I would post some pics of the new car.

I managed to give it a good wash, clay, polish and wax over the weekend.

Sorry for the bad pics and bad editing.....turns out paint isn't the best editing tool!;

Obligatory beading pics:

Reflection just after being clay'd;
Letting the wax haze;

Reflection after waxing;

Products used;

Dodo Juice Born to be Mild + Meguiars lambswool mitt
Meguiars Clay Bar + Born to be Mild and water as lube
Meguiars Ultimate Polish + Meguiars foam applicator pads
Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Wax

I also used very watered down Bilberry on the wheels.

Any comments welcome.

Cheers
Rich

Hi Guys,

Thought I would do a quick update (not that much has happened!).

Since my first post the car has had the following;

4 x Michelin Pilot Sport Tyres
Ferodo DS2500 pads and OEM discs all round
1 x Service carried out by me
Valve Clearances (Picture below)

Clutch replaced by ABP
Service by ABP including greasing the subframe
Aircon Re-gas

The car is running brilliantly and nearly a year on I'm still loving it.

Any way, this weekend Lee (Offspringy) came over with his machine polisher and we gave her a good once over, pics below;

Masking up:

Polishing;

Result;

Beading after one coat of sealant;

Products used;

Chemical Guys Maxi Suds Shampoo
Bilberry Wheel Cleaner
Autoglym Synthetic Leather
Meguires Clay bar with Chemical Guys Clay Luber
Isopropanol Alcohol
Various Meguires Polishes
Chemical Guys Hex Pads + Meguires DA Polisher
Poorboys E-XP Sealant
Chemical guys Trim Gel
A million Microfiber Cloths
Meguires Tyre Gel
and 14 hours of our time!

A few weeks ago I also replaced the tatty old gear gaiter for a nice new leather one, such an improvement at under half the cost of a replacement Honda gaiter!

I think that about covers it.

Any comments welcome,

Rich

Another boring update (If you can call it that!).

So I've been getting into the whole detailing thing again recently and read about a method of drying the car using a quick detailer.

Basically when you are about to dry the car with a microfibre towel you lightly mist the car with a quick detailer then wipe off with the water and it is meant to leave the paint with no streaks/water spots and adds further depth to the paint.

I used Poor Boy's QD+ for this and I loved the results!

I'm sure this is probably common knowledge for some but I have only just started looking into this stuff again.

Pics;

In the last year we have had a baby Girl (Now 8 Months old!) and bought a new house so there has been very little to report on our Type R.

It has also been a daily drive so keeping it running correctly has been the priority.

However, now everything is starting to settle for us a little we have been able to purchase an new daily runabout in the form of an 07 2.2 CDTI Civic in Black.

I'm not sure of the spec but it does have cruise control and the panoramic roof (which I love!). EDIT: Just checked the Wiki, its an ES model.

It has 150k on the clock and a tonne of history (mostly Honda), clutch replaced just prior to us buying and it was cheap!

So far I'm really liking it.

It is so different to the Type R, its comfy, its a better cruiser, it has easier access for ISO fix baby seats!! Although it's no handler in comparison with the FN2 but when you just want to drive to work and back for me at least it is better.

Anyway here are some pics for anyone interested;

I have ordered some new mats and a full service kit from Coxs Honda so this is a job for the weekend (hopefully its not to big of a pain to change the fuel filter).

As for the FN2, hopefully now I can start doing a few bits to it, first off I need some rear pads, once that is done I'm hoping to get a Miltek cat back and then later in the year the Stoptech Big Brake kit.

We were due to have the Stoptech kit fitted last year however the housing situation got in the way of this and I had to let ABP down.

Anyway, if anyone is still reading by this point I hope to put some more updates on here throughout the year.

Rich

A nice practical daily driver with a few toys/nice bits.

Is it on good overall condition?

You also now have the option of some cost effective tuning potential

There is a dent in the passenger door that we will be getting pulled out, the seats etc. are like new, the rest of the paint could do with a machine polish but I can sort that, other than that its tidy and for the price we paid I'm happy with it.

Not looking to tune this one unless the tuning is more about economy than power, I just need it to keep running for as long as it can.
