Talking 56 Galaxy EX mini project

I picked up my new car on Sunday and have been going about getting to know it and working out what needs doing. I've come from a Corolla T sport so I'm taking a fairly big step down on the performance front but I've got nice factory fit toys and five doors for the family which is a big plus for me.

So I got myself a 2006 1.8 Ex in Galaxy grey. It had a little over 56k on the clock and an immaculate service history at Honda until November last year when it had its last service. It hadn't been prepared when I went to see it and it needs little bit of love to get it looking it's best tbh. Interior is immaculate but a bit dusty etc. Outside I think it had suffered on the forecourt with a few scuffs along each side and a bit paint transfer. (Pics to follow) and the lacquer has gone on the wheels which is noticible during the day but almost invisible at night. They are the diamond cut 18" Altimo's. Other than this there were a few parking scuffs and the rear bumper but no other dents or marks and I didn't spot one stone chip. Although this is one of the best colours for that apparently.

So enough jabbering, what are the plans:

No mods on this so its all about getting her back to her best.

New HID bulbs (hopefully will sort a intermittent flicker when cold)
New cree LED sides
New Bosch Aero wiper kit
New cree LED number plate lights
New LED SMD boot lights (other interior lights I actually like the tone off)
New Genuine Velour Civic Mats and new mount plate.
3.90 Sat nav update *done*
Transcend Dashcam hardwire install
Full interior valet and shampoo inc full engine bay dressing ( next Tuesday and no steam clean)
Full exterior 2 stage machine polish and correction (8 hour session booked for Monday)
Grey to charcoal trim "dye"
Full major service (none dealer but for my own price of mind and for another stamp)*done*
900w slimline sub install

As you can see I've made a start and good progress expected next week. I've actually not taken a picture of the car yet which is appealing ha! But in the rest of this being a "gallery" I've got the below tasters

Well done making a start on sprucing the ol'gal up.

Great to see that you've already made a start but I don't see a sticker on your list

Good luck ticking items off the list.

I didn't select the sticker when I signed to be a supporter last Sunday lol. It'll be the finishing touch I think. So I'll get one ordered later.

So I was going to wait for before and after but here is how she looks at the moment

I made a start moving house today so haven't done much but did fit my new LED sides and 6000k bulbs. All easy to do. Just whipped the battery out for ease. Most difficult bit was putting the stupid rubber hose behind the passenger side back as its pinched between connector and wiring loom Ha.

All done and waiting for darkness to really see how it looks. I really cannot recall seeing side lights so yellow tbh

Very nice indeed, looks great.

Are there any lights left to upgrade?

How are you finding the dashcam?

I'm replacing the rear outer indicator as one is cracked somehow. Hadn't noticed until it was cleaned so that's on order. All other lights are being left as is for now but I like the look of the 3200 lumen led fogs from my mrJP, can't justify that expense at he moment tho as they are working and are very bright already, just yellow.

The Dashcam hardwire install is still pending but I've had the camera for some time. It's superb and it's amazing how many stupid people it captures on the road.
Quality is excellent even at night, to the point where I've already handed footage over to the police for some drunk who made me stop the car and proceeded to kick the hell out of it. Sounds amusing now maybe but was unsettling at the time lol

Cripes, that's another +1 reason to get a dash cam purchased. There are some odd folk about.

So I'm getting there baring the wheel arch trim which cannot be recliped, instead I'll have to buy a new one and some clips

After it was machine polished a few weeks back I decided to give it a good once over today and a coat of wax. I prefer the finish I got our of it to the machine polish tbh tho.

I had to give it a good clean as I had my wheels refurbed during the week with a couple of Eagle F1 asy3 fitted on the front.
I bought some brand new lug nuts as after the powder coated wheels were refitted they really let them down and stood out a mile.
Also fitted my Civic decals and fuel cap badge and I took the time to remove the rear lights and fully de Algae them as the green looked rank.

I actually used this.

It really really brings the metallic fleck out in the paint and it looks lovely but it doesn't last too long. Prob 2 weeks at best before another wash and wax needed. I've used a few different longer lasting ones but for some reason this stuff always brings out the best finish for me. Prob because it's so easy to put on and buff off

Been a while since I've updated but everything on my original list is done now and I'm just tweaking a few other bits. The broken wheel arch clip has now been tiger sealed in place and looks a lot better. Just got to clean up some excess silicone. I've just had new brakes all round so currently bedding those in and I have another pair of Goodyear Eagle 3's going on sat for a matching set.

One thing that has been bothering me is the locking wheel nuts believe it or not lol. When I did the refurb I bought new lug nuts all round. As you can see in the pic above the locking nut sticks out like a sore thumb despite me trying to clean it up.

So I bought a cleaner set off lightningshow on here but they still had a rusty sleeve (if you pardon the expression). I don't know why genuine Honda ones would be designed like this tbh

Quick clean with Kerrosol

Sanded down sleeve and masked off - also polished the face

Finished result after 4 coats of hammerite so should last well. And it is actually a good colour match to blend in, so I'm happy
