rpsmith's 1.8 Type-S GT

Ok, this isn't going to be the greatest build ever, but certainly got a few things planned, and already undertaken a few simple mods in the 2 weeks i've owned it

Anyhow, this is how it started out, a fairly standard 1.8 Type-S GT in Silver, slightly confused with it though as its on a 59 plate but a prefacelift model, i'm sure i have seen facelift models on 09 plates, but i actually rather like the contrasting trim/bodykit, especially with the anthracite wheels

Yes, i know the Type-S badge is in the wrong place, but one of the previous owners had superglued the last C of the Civic badge back on at some point, so on removing it, it also took some of the paint with it, so as a temporary measure, i took the Type-S badge off and moved it up to cover over the missing paint, luckily it fits perfectly, and doesn't look too out of place

Even thpugh i like the prefacelift bodykit, i'm not a fan of the grill, and it appears that at some point in the past it has had a small shunt as the lower grill clips were both smashed, and the grill was only had in place by the 2 top bolts................... good excuse to buy a facelift grill then

I'm not a fan of chrome though, so i dusted of my vinyl wrapping gear, and got busy with some carbon fibre wrap

And then fitted it................... much happier now

One question though, does anyone know what these wheels are, they are not Type-S wheels, and they are 18's, it's only had 2 previous lady owners, and only ever been serviced by main dealers, so i'm not sure if they were an optional extra, or off another Honda model, but they have genuine Honda centre caps

Got a few more things planned for it, but i'm not going to go over the top, and certainly not going to make a CTR rep

Lookin' good, the carbon like grill is a nice touch.

Check the forum Wiki to identify the alloys

Looking good mate. I have the same model and year.
I thought the Type S gt had the rear spoiler as standard.

Yeah, looks like yours is a facelift model, perhaps it was standard on the facelift, but it's something I want to add

Yes they do look very similar, so possibly an optional Honda Accord wheel, though mine aren't a chrome finish, but I guess they could have been painted

While these wheels look absolutely superb on your car they are definitely not Honda standard factory spec for the Civic!
Just had a look through the 2009/2010 hatch, Type S & Type R brochures and they are not listed at all evens as optional extras. I would love to find out how to get hold of a set though!!!!

Yeah I am somewhat stumped too, I thought they were like those in the link above, but they aren't, different amount of spokes for a start

A bit more work done today, didn't like how the roof looked on my Civic, with 80% of it taken up with the pan roof, and the black rear window, it just looked a bit odd to me

I'm sure you can guess what's coming................... a bit of gloss black wrap later

Civic Roof After.....

Much nicer IMO, really ties the whole roof together now

And while i was at it, i also picked up some translucent yellow wrap......................... oh yes, yellow fogs anyone?

Yellow Fogs
by Richard Smith, on Flickr

I think it needed a little bit of colour on it, and i think they really set off the front end, i know they aren't to everyone's taste, but i like them, and that's all that count really

Next up, i need to get the no. plates replaced, probably go with pressed plates, just not sure whether to go traditional rectangular or JMD square?????

Looking good!

Wow, that gloss section on the roof does look very smart! I have the panoramic glass roof as well so will have to consider this for a future mod. Is it easy for an amateur to do if i get some black gloss vinyl?

I wonder if it would look any good if the wing mirrors were wrapped in the gloss black to match?!?

I have been wrapping for a while now on and off, and I have to say this one of the easiest jobs I have done with it being so flat and straight, ideally a 2 man job though

The wing mirrors are a bit too much of a job for me to wrap, so going to keep my eyes peeled for a set of black mirror caps on eBay

Yeah, they are really starting to bug me now that i can't find out what they are, i'd sure be buggered if ever i needed to replace one

To be fair, i paid a little over the odds for the car in the first place, but it just looked so well on these wheels compared to the standard 17's on the Type S (which everyone round here for sale was sat on), that i couldn't resist buying it, plus a 6 month warranty was some good piece of mind too

They look like they may be Sigma alloys from an Accord?
