Hello all after a newbie introduction I was asked to post a few pictures.

I haven't done loads but everyone has to start somewhere.

https://imageshack.us/my/images

Hope the link works. The main change is the mod to the perspex grill an idea borrowed from Civicinfo that my son and I completed and the window deflectors front and back.

Tried a random piece of carbon wrapping to see how hard it was and also popped on an aluminium footrest and leather stitched steering wheel cover. The rear mudguards were second hand and sprayed before going on.

Ideally we will chip away at a few more small scale mods such as bulbs, new gear knob and gaitor. To be honest though the stock gear knob is in great condition for age, I have just gone over the black with the cherry blossom shoe sponge.

My son has mentioned a spoiler as I have the dreaded lacquer peel on the back but I might try and source some 17 inch alloys first. Everything on here gives food for thought. Thank you to all those who contribute on this forum.

Grille makes it look much better, LED bulbs will give it a lift too.

I like the way you have done the black background i left mine chrome but seeing yours i might do mine as im never going to pay £100 plus for a type r one
But nice car and keep the pics coming as you inevitably do more mods as now you’ve started you wont be able to stop searching for more stuff to do haha

Thank you. I looked at the grill on a mod on here .

One member had left the small outer silver bits next to the lights and one had done it all. The second one is the same colour as mine so I followed suit. It all needs a good clean up though so will be searching the threads for best method and products.

I looked at the mesh grill but again its £100 I was happy to put elsewhere and the 4 quid spare perspex was too tempting not to pick up and mod.

I've seen a lot in my colour with the type r or type s kits on (5dr) and painted trim. I might consider this but I'd like to sort the lacquer peel on the boot and alloys first.

Not sure about the carbon wrap. I like the interior but don't always get the time to conider taking it to bits and doing the wrap. This was just a test on the ashtray.

I have a weighted gear knob on order so may do the gaitor at the same time.

I will update as I go.

Thank you I am looking at bulbs now but it seems the civic headlights are fun to get at when you have big hands. Probably get the lad on that job (11 year old) as he has a taste for cars at the moment.

I've turned all the inside ones off after I had a battery drain when I first bought it. Turned out to be duff battery but I haven't put them back on. Winter is coming though so a good time to fit some descent LEDs.

I like the carbon effect on the center console ashtray lid.

Did you wrap it ?

Yes, as it just pops out it was a good place to start. If you open the lid and remove the rubber you can access the two Phillip's head screws holding the silver grip.

It isn't easy because of the shape and to be fair hasnt held up well over the lip. My fault for cutting to short.

However if you get it right and just put a slice through the position of the grip it can be screwed back on to give a nice finish.

Going to do the interior light cluster next. Had thought of doing the mock heated seat switch panel but not sure how to get this out.

Good luck if you try the ashtray just leave a good overhang so you can pull it tight but still open as required.

Aurora bulbs do a set, on forum sellers.
On ebay I used Valley lighting, or Valley LED (they use different names) who do an interior kit for the FN2 which will be the same. not had problems with either

Great I will take a look. LEDs do look better. If I De tango the back lights do I need to get an Orange pair for the back lights. Might do a search of the scrappies this weekend to see if there is any face lifted treasure out there.

Yes the rear bulbs would have to be orange if you went for clear lens, only a few quid in Halfords.

The LED amber indicators might not work without ballast resistors, will go into hyperflash and you will know it.
I couldn't be arsed with that, TypeR bulbs are orange anyway.

Everything else at the back can be LED'd including the rear/stoplight, fog light, number plate and reversing lights.
Just have to search for the right bulb type on the web.

Aurora also do a nice replacement unit for the boot @ £21 or so which has 18 leds and is like a floodlight
Watch out for the reversing lights because some bulbs will be too long to fit.

Added a couple more photos to show the steering wheel which will eventually be stitched with red thread. Also changed out the gear knob. The intention is to get a black leather and red stitched gaiter to compliment the gear knob.

Bought mine from here with white stitch option, good quality, reasonably priced.

Saw these on ebay, same seller but they look good and the price is right. Another gent on here has done this and the combination works well. I shall be ordering on payday. Will update when I have it fitted. Thanks for the links and recommendations. I do like the standard shaft but think the gaiter will finish it off.
