Yeah we have used many cars for tuition over the years, my dad has been an instructor since the 70s. I have had 3 new Minis, a Suzuki Swift (mistake), a Golf and now the Civic. I use the car for both family and work, the Civic ticked all the boxes!

doesnt the huge c-pillar in the civic make it hard for new learners to learn how to reverse around a corner, etc? its fine by me but i would thought thats a problem for new learners

I love my civic but I must say there are loads of blind spots, especially the four pillars being really thick and the rear view not being the best.

Get em learning the hard way I say :P That way they'll feel treated with a massive rear window when they drive their new Corsa

The rear visibility is poor, the only downside to the car. We don't need sensors or cameras to help us, as we teach when and where to observe to get the best view. This in turn results in a better driver. Remember people can reverse vans or trucks with little or no rear visibility, using only thier mirrors. On test they want full all round observation (which can include door mirrrors), looking mainly through the rear window. The door mirrors on the Civic are very good.

You have to remember I bought this car for my family as well. We are a 1 car family. I had a 5 door Golf GT TDi 150 before, that I did 130,000 miles in. I started to have reliability issues, the Golf was becoming very expensive to keep on the road. So... the diesel Civic seemed a better option. My insurance is 400 pa on the Civic, on the Golf I paid 450 pa.

I am happy so far.

400 - That is for me to drive for business, social/domestic purposes. Any provisional licence holder with me (or any ADI/Examiner) sitting next to them. Also any driver over 25 with a full licence. So that's it 400 fully comp with a free hire car with duals for any fault accident.
