Milano Red 2008 FK2 VXi Civic Hatch

My car has come a long way since i collected her nearly a year ago, so i have decided to post some pics from when i collected her to now...i am extremely happy with how she has come along

The weekend after i picked her up

I then changed the rims to original Accord rims, i also got fed up of being blinded by the sun shining through the section above the mirror, so i stuck a matt black sun visor over the top of the windscreen

The next minor modification was to change the horifically shiney dash to a matt black finish(still looking for an original part to replace it

I then sourced a set of OEM Type R Springs that lowered the car approximately 15mm from standard

Before

After

I later fitted a set of red wheel nuts that i think finish of the theme with the dark rims quite nicely(i know it is a little rice but whatever)

After this i decided that the scratches on the mirrors was bugging me, so i wrapped them in matt black as well...once that was done, the petrol cap looked out of place, so i wrapped that as well....ended up with a much more aggressive look

I upgraded the front speaker system to a Hertz split system, which greatly improved the overall sound, even from the standard headunit, which i have no plans to change, for the upgrade i purchased some OEM pillar mounts for the tweeters(same as the newer model and the Type R have)

No pics as yet, nothing to show really

I have most recently installed the Type R/Civic 2011 rear indicators(and bulbs, as well as a set of HID bulbs for both normal headlights and fogs(also installed a set of single LED side lights)

Standard Bulbs

HID Kits

Front View with lights on

I have yet to take some photos of the complete car after all the mods...will get on that ASAP. There are still a few things i would like to do, but these are relatively minor in comparison to some of the visual changes i have made to the vehicle so far...

Just a small update on what i have been up to

Fitted a pair of Yokohama AR01 225/45 ZR 17...what an awesome tyre, plenty grip, extremely low road noise, only time will tell what sort of mileage, but from what i have seen online, most get an acceptable 50000km from a set, was dubious about the tread pattern as from previous experience with a V pattern, i have had TERRIBLE road noise

Then the intake, a BIG thanks to MugenRR for supplying me with the K&N 57i kit(part number 57-0668). Have been trying to organise one for a while, and he came through for me.

Have done approximately 1000km since fitting it, and am extremely happy to report that my fuel economy has improved by approximately 1l/100km(used to run about 8-9l/100km now is running 7-8l/100km), out of a full tank i got about 450-480km form 40l and from the last few 40l fill ups i got around 550-600km which means it will pay for itself in about 3 months . The deeper growl from the intake is addictive and i believe the fuel saving may even improve as i get used to the sound and am not always gunning the throttle to enjoy the sound

As a bonus my car now pulls alot smoother and seems to accelerate a lot quicker. Only problem experienced is that when i pull up at a stop street or robot, the revs tend to drop to around 500rpm, then settle back at 750-800rpm as normal.

All in all i am very happy with it, especially the real time saving on fuel, good investment for anyone that does high mileage.

A little update on what has been done since my last post....

The wraps on the mirrors, handles and petrol cap were looking a little worse for wear, so i stripped off and rewrapped all the parts again, with decent cast vinyl, which will last longer this time.

I purchased a few parts off a wrecked Type R....(thanks Hybrid)

I have now removed the door lock on the drivers door, leaving a much cleaner looking door handle(pic to follow, although is the same as the passenger side now)

The other change is the fitment of a Type R spoiler, which was wrapped by Greensky(thanks Abu - Mr Moojin)

For those that were not at Japfest(SA All-round racing event for Jap cars - well mostly) this weekend, i have been extremely busy fitting a Type R body kit to my 5 door Civic

With the stock kit

The car stripped of the stock kit

Fitted a Type R grill with custom badge (thanks Bovine)

Front skirt fitted

Front Fenders fitted

Side Skirts Fitted

Front Section Completed

Rear Skirt Fitted

Rear Wheel Arches fitted

Job Done, a few small things still need to be finished, will post up some close up pics of the embossed Civic logos that were put under the matt black wrap.

Not an easy job to do for anyone else that wants to do it, i estimate approximately 30 hours(very conservative estimate) have been sunk into this during the last few weeks leading up to Japfest.

Much better!!

I was a bit disappointed when i seen the first pic with the front skirt fitted because it was black but it does look good with your black and red theme.

what took you 30 hours?? to wrap the kit and fit it?

Well....it took quite a bit of time to prepare the kit for wrapping(both side skirts came off wrecks), as well as wrapping....screwed up a few times, and finally got some assistance from a mate that made things a bit easier....

I am jealous of some of the parts you have already fitted....need to catch up, where did you get the OMP? Keen to get one myself

Thanks for the comments guys

Another small update

Finally managed to get my Type S stickers made, was trying to get them cut and installed for Japfest, but ran out of hours the week before

And the rear gel sticker

@ Gp_kho

Custom made gell badge, 99% size of original....took many tries to get it right....not really happy with the Red colour, so might remake it again

Been thinking about what i can do to make the rear wheels look better(too "sunk in" at the moment....

Two options i have right now....16" S2000 AP1 rims(5 spoke with slightly staggered offset)
or
20mm spacers for teh rear(am not a huge fan of spacers)

What do you guys think

Have you tried the S2000 rims?

Ive found it hard to be satisfied with the rear wheels. My first set, FN2 wheels were the worst for me, they sat in a lot! then i had ET45 offset on my outgoing wheels, which were a little better. I was going to have the eibach 10mm pro spacers with them but changed my mind and now have ET35 BBS CH wheels.

What kind of spacers are you looking at? you will need longer studs?

20mm is a lot for spacers i think??

I got both my OMP braces from strutbracer.co.uk's ebay shop.

I did more research into the S2000 rims....ET60 and ET65 , so i doubt the front would even fit properly....

The search continues....

The spacers look like this

Want to get them and try them, will see what it looks like and post some pics once fitted

Looking good. That paintwork needs a good detail though, especially with all that sunshine
