It looks as though it is only a matter of time before a mishap occurs. You could try lining the wall with polystyrene, I did this a few years ago when I had a car that was a tight fit in the garage. I actually used lids off poly boxes that are used to bring tropical fish in to the country, my local pet store obliged for a small consideration. The box lids are very robust and do offer a lot of protection.
