Seat comfort

In common with most Japanese cars I find that the seats just don't suit me for longer drives. Basically my bum goes to sleep - which I suppose some might think was a good thing but I don't and after a couple of hours I'm pretty uncomfortable.

I suspect I need some sort of wedge or cushion to on the seat, my wife has a wedge for her Colt and it works well for her.

I don't have electric seats in the Honda and to my surprise no lumbar support but I don't think that would help anyway as I think the problem is that the front edge of the seat is a bit high and the rear of the seat is a bit low for me. I have tried adjusting the rake and height and nothing seems to be good.

I'd be fine swapping the seat out if another model had a better seat but I suspect they will all be similar designs.

Anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it?

Mike

A bit unconventional but worked for my 8 gen civics-using m16 washers and longer seat base fixing bolts, I raised the rear of the seat base using the washers packing under the two rear seat base fixings.

3 or 4 each corner with the longer bolts worked for me. Very much a personal thing, but for me making the seat that bit more comfortable on longer journeys.

Well that's a thought. In effect you tipped the seat fowards a bit to take the pressure off your legs at the front. I could do that.

That's what it did, also took pressure of the base of the spine (main reason for me having had a back injury when a kid) worked for me !

Thanks to cb550 I did the same with the drivers seat on my Civic ,but I made spacers using MDF to raise the rear of the seat base by 6mm , the bolts needed are these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M10-x-1-2....c100040.m2060 in whatever length you need.

Takes the pressure off the base of the spine, and may work for you as well.
