Removing mirror housing

Is it possible to remove the black plastic cover behind the rear view mirror that covers the anti collision sensors etc?

I used a dashcam whose mount was stuck direct to this with 3 m tape and i am now wanting to remove it. reckon it may be easier to remove if i can take the housing off?

Any ideas?

I'm sure the plastic housing will pop off somehow, probably just couple of clips underneath. But I know one or two people have reported that piece rattling and even coming loose so might be best to leave it in place, if possible!

You can try some fishing line or strong thread or even plastic dental floss to separate the adhesive pad from the plastic - just stretch the thread and use a sawing action to drag thread down between plastic and adhesive. Then a little "rubbing alcohol" should remove any sticky residue. Maybe test the rubbing alcohol on hidden plastic first but I have used it to remove dirt and stickiness and it hasn't marked my interior plastics.
