What are the pair of rubber tubes for on the boot lid?

There are a pair of rubber tubes on the boot lid, inside the boot itself, each are capped at the outer end. What are they for? Stumped me!

I hope that image shows properly what I’m referring to. There’s a pair of them on the tailgate. For the life of me I can’t see what they’re for. Reckon you can squeeze a Bic into it, as an estimate if size.

Haha, I have no idea! It wasn’t a quiz. I think you’re right, makes the most sense to me.

Have you got them on yours? I think the idea of them being there to stop the rattle makes sense, but that they’re ‘capped’ off at one end makeshifts me think they’re for holding something between them. Or maybe it’s for structural rigidity.

Well, as i don't have a 9G, my guess was just that, a guess, as I have seen something like that before to stop rattles. It can't be that hard for someone with a 9G to see if they press up against the parcel shelf. How hard can it be to confirm.

They press on parcel shelf, mine has indentations where they make contact.

As above, stop the parcel shelf rattling.

However , following the suggestion from the OP,I now use mine for storing two different colour Bic pens-- you never know when they might be useful.
