Photos of the 9th Gen @ Brands Hatch BTCC

Honda had the 9th gen on show at the BTCC meet at Brands Hatch.

And in a nice twist, they exhibited it alongside the original '72 model

I was fairly underwhelmed after the press launch pix - seeing it in the flesh, I still stand by what I've said. A perfectly 'nice' car...but not a particularly desirable one. It's...urm...OK

The Honda chap with the car described it to me as a 'grower' - the more you see of it and experience it, the better you find it.

Time will quite literally tell then..!!

Enjoy

Cheers

Nick

Would rather have the 72 1st gen one, least the latest one has a rear wiper even that doesn't look right as handy as it is I would probably remove it...

The front end grill is terrible to looks like a bag of odd tatties, it's certainly a Prius cross civic with a hint of peugot in there not good Honda.... I've already jumped ship. Glad I didn't hold out for the new model.

just realised I gave up my 500th forum post and hailed the arrival of a new light with a thread on the 9th gen, which everyone seems to hate!

Good job for a CTR owner who has no intention of changing his car for another four years

They do have to work on that "prototype"

Oh but there is a beemer style shark fin aerial on roof And a black thingy across rear window - is it to create more wind noise etc??

I think the front looks alright the more I look at it, but it's just the rear which is like an unfinished product.
Hopefully some aftermarket companies will hop onto this.

Hopefully indeed, but it'll take some time before you see much available ...

If it was me - I'd colour code the dark grey plastic on the front and around the wheel arches (what were they thinking ?) - mesh insert in the rear bumper - triangular front fogs and twin rear exhaust surrounds (why remove a Civic 'signature' feature ?) - replace that big fat ugly mother of a rear light cluster with something much more sleek - change the shark fin aerial for a 'flat \ round' job (although it's good that the aerial isn't now built into the windscreen) ...

What I like - is the body line \ body coloured fuel flap lid (that's what I'm going to do to mine) - the rear wiper (not a deal breaker either way) - the improved rear suspension, if it's as good as Honda claim ...

But, then there is the pricing - getting up towards 25,000 for the top of the range model, seems a bit steep for a car that doesn't have forced induction - but, only a test drive will tell if it's still a "drivers car" ...

p.s. - why do Honda persist in using that awful Yak's Urine colour on the 'demo' cars ? - they MUST have something better than that ! ...

Not everyone, I'm waiting to see how it drives and if the new suspension is all it's advertised as being. I'm will be looking for another reliable, comfy, medium sized family hatch and so far I can't see anything else worth going for.

Don't really want a Ford
Lexus CT200h gets rubbish reviews, especially in the suspension area !
Vauxhall - ^ see Ford ^ plus doesn't cut it for me.
VW don't do full auto's
Skoda - ^ see VW ^
Audi - too expensive for what you get
BMW - ^ see Audi ^
Citroen - only their i-shift equivalent available (and gets worse reviews)

What is that flappy thing under the rear lights.....?? Just a random piece of plastic stuck on the car, " Boss.... Boss we have some left over plastic", "Stick it on somewhere to make it look like it has a purpose"

From the pictures above look in the dash design the 3 round pods which holds the dials etc are very Jazz like too.

Hmmmm time will tell but maybe there is not enough time in our life to make it grow on us.

This is the kind of joke post that makes me wet myself laughing.

You bitch bitch bitch about wanting a new, vastly different, radically designed, NO c02, 8,000 mpg car yet when the new design is released, cry like a baby because it doesnt have triangular exhausts?? you want a different car yet moan that it doesnt have the exact same defining features of the outgoing model?
If they'd left it like that you'd have been whinging that it was the same and not 'different' enough.

Didnt have a leg to stand on really did they? whatever was released would have been moaned about and wouldnt have been right.

Try, just try, to wait until its released, see whether the car is any good rather than moaning about the poxy exhausts and wiper blades and the
dimensions of the screw heads.

I was at brands hatch and seen the car on saturday, I have to say pictures do not do it justice. In the metal its a gorgeous looking car.

I think top of the range in red with upgraded black and silver wheels will look sweet as.

Its a hell of a nicer looking car than the new focus. Its horrible.

I think this can often be the case. I didn't like the current model facelift with the 'snotty nose' but in the flesh it's OK.

I can't agree with a word of that.

I was at Brands too, and I saw it in the flesh but was STILL disappointed.

Shocking design.

The plastic trim below the rear tailights is for aero dyamics. It actally helps reduce C0'2 emissions.

So really its another AMAZING design from the Honda engineers, yes it may look like abit out of place. But Honda have tested it and saved you money on road tax and fuel because of it.

Plus the Honda BTCC racing team have the new car already and it will be the new Honda team car.
