Used 9G's

Just had a look at the Honda used car locator and there are some 9G's already on there.

The prices (to me) look not from this planet. I was looking at diesels and the majority of the cars are ES models, for which they are asking list or knocking off no more than 500.

One was over list (it had metallic paint and what appeared to be an alloy wheel upgrade).

Now to me those prices are madness, it is after all just a Civic.

New model, 16 week wait. Not surprising I suppose for anyone who can't wait and is willing to put up with the iMid software bug.

Any reason other than previous reputation and blind prejudice?

Vauxhall are not in the same league as Honda. I've owned both. It is not just the car being better (reliability, performance etc.) it is also the customer care. Honda will cover costs of parts even when out of warranty. It was a breath of fresh air when i first went into a Honda garage. I will more than likely pick up a 9g Type R in 2/3 years to replace my current car.

I'm calling it a bug because it was thought that the feature would be 'fixed' before retail.

On the 8G you can keep hitting the " i " button on the steering wheel at any time and it will rotate round the various options - blank, seat belts, MPG, Average MPG, range in tank, etc.

On the 9G you have to be stationary to be able to rotate round. Whether this also involves having the handbrake on hasn't been posted yet.

What would annoy me is that if whilst driving and displaying say the average mpg (which I tend to have as my base) and you get the low fuel warning light, you can't simply flick to tank range to monitor progress.

I reckon that's a bug.

Yep, there are plenty of cars in this segment that can be spec'd into the high 20Ks. Alfa Giulietta being one example.

It seems there are people on this forum thinking that:

a) The 9G is alone in this respect.
b) The highest spec 9G is the only version you can buy, and is therefore is expensive, and therefore Honda have messed up.

Despite a number of responses to the contrary, they still don't seem to get it.

It's what you pay that counts, some more popular cars are advertised with 4k discounts, Honda don't seem to do this.

There are others that also don't. Alfa again being another example.

If a model is new, its unlikely that you will get big discounts - regardless of manufacturer. Give it 12-18 months and you may get some give.

I don't know it could be someone at Honda's idea of health and Safety to ensure you're not taking your eyes off the road when driving.

It depends if they have a lot of them in stock, demand and some sellers do it to make the buyer feel like they are getting a better deal on a car that was clearly not able to command that price in the first place. Honda are in a league of their own in comparison to Vauxhall, Ford etc.

A league of their own, I would say that Honda are certainly no better than the two brands you mention and cost a whole lot more to buy and to maintain.

Bodgerx, like most others, I don't need to own a car to have an opinion. I do own a Civic and have been disappointed with it.

I was questioning why you own a Honda. I asked this because it seemed strange given that you think they are expensive and are no better than the prevoiusly mentioned makes.

Honda are more reliable for a start. They are much better and use better quality materials and i don't just mean the trim. A Honda will cost you less on bills in the long run.
