2012 EXGT HID Headlight adapters for Europe

Does anyone know how to convert HID headlight on a 9th Gen EXGT for driving in Europe? I have seen the Eurolite instruction leaflet & it only refers to non-HID lights

What?

Are you wanting to add HIDs to a non EX GT model?
Are you wanting a device that converts the H7 fitting to a D2R HID fitting?

HIDs come in a kit, the kit has ballasts which take the 12V and pump it to a higher voltage which then goes to the HID bulbs which make the light.

You can just plug a HID bulb into a 12V system, it will not work.

Or more info is needed on what you want than just "CAN".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To get a HID kit, you will firstly need to buy a H7R not a H7, but a H7R kit.
This kit will upgrade you to HIDs to be used with the reflective housings.

Mr JP sells them for the 8th gen so he should be able to help you with the 9th gen.

That is if the H7R will fit it.

I think Doomed means changing the direction of the dipped beam. It's down and to the left on RHD cars. Down and to the right on LHD cars.

@ Doomed - I can't find a website for eurolite but I'd just fit them as per non-HID instructions

Thanks Laney

But my previous civic was a 59 CTR GT and the Eurolite positioning on those HID lights were different to the std Civic.

Check your owners manual or see if you have the adjustment on the headlight as per the 8th gen. http://www.civinfo.com/forum/how/306...eadlights.html

The “Models with high voltage discharge tube bulbs” note on the right hand side of page 160 in the handbook states: “The headlights are suitable for both right and left hand traffic. You do not need to alter the headlight beam distribution.”
Under “Models fitted with halogen bulbs” it suggests that “You may need to alter the headlight beam distribution.” It then refers you to page 295.

Personally I would ask the dealer for advice / clarification on this before taking the car to Europe.

That's interesting... not sure how that works, but would a 'Continental' police officer understand that or would he/she be expecting to see the adaptors?

As long as your lights aren't glaring them, would they care?

I'd put some on before leaving, unless you speak fluent French and convince them that they are automatique!

I don’t know how it would work either, so can only assume that it’s something to do with the beam pattern produced by HID lighting. That’s why I would ask the dealer for confirmation of what it states in the handbook before driving on the continent.
