Auto shift lever handgrip.

Hi all,

I was wondering how to replace the shift lever handgrip (left part of the lever)as it is badly scratched. I can undo the 2 screws behind the lever but the gaiter is preventing me from pulling the lever out. Any help would be appreciated. I do have the replacement part to change it.
