Cool 2 Quick Questions

Although I have been somewhat delayed in the delivery of my new Civic EX GT 2.2 in OW with Black Int' (September I am being told)

I have 2 questions which I am sure I will be laughed at for asking:

1. Does the owner's manual give any indication of running the engine in when new on the new civic? Tyres and brakes is usually a standard warning message as it was in my 8th Gen 2.2 EX manual but not to much on the engine.

2. Is there anywhere on line I can get a PDF or download of the owner's manual for my long awaited Civic? just to pass the time in the build-up to the big day. It would be nice to catch up on the 2 - 300 page manual (it's a geek thing) which may soften my wait. (or indeed make it worse)

Incidentally I had a lovely online discussion with Honda via the online website today about new vehicle lead in times; she told me 4 - 5 weeks. Not what every dealer in Surrey have told me. I respectively gave her this information and she then changed her mind to 15 - 20 weeks... grr I thought I was naively onto a winner.

September cannot come soon enough

Not any manual on line that I've seen for the 9th gen as for running the engine its mostly the same as the 8th gen there is a wiki section on how to run the car in tbh gentle acceleration and not hard braking for the first 600-800 miles

You're likely to see that car in late July to aug tbh, bar a couple of weeks for the annual factory shutdown but then, quite rightly, you'll want to wait until Sept i'd have thought for the new pate

But as a lease car for 3 years, I have no real underlying issue with the plate as it has no depreciation value to me personally, although yes I suppose having it on a 63 plate is some kind of new car status thing... anyone have any thoughts on this?

My manual(1.8 8th gen) says avoid hard driving or towing for the first 1000km.

Break-in Period
  • Avoid full-throttle starts and rapid
    acceleration.
  • Help assure your vehicle’s future
    reliability and performance by paying
extra attention to how you drive
during the first 1,000 km (625 miles).

    During this period:
  • Avoid hard braking for the first
    300 km (200 miles).
  • Do not change the oil until the
    scheduled maintenance time.
  • Do not tow a trailer.
  • You should also follow these
    recommendations with an
    overhauled or exchanged engine, or
    when the brakes are replaced

Honda Norton Way is dealing with the order... a build slot has been confirmed and scheduled for delivery on 2nd September.

On a side note... I've received my civinfo stickers... seems a waste to put them on my current EX so will wait for them to go on the new motor.

This what worries about buying a demo. I'm pretty sure it will not have been driven like the manual states it needs to be the first 1,000 miles.
