Help please.

Hi I have just joined and looking at getting a 2.4 V-tec exec Tourer.
The one I have seen is 54 plate with 123000 miles is there anything that I should be looking out for? Thanks in advance.

i dont know the specifics of the car so i will go with the generic ones i use for every car, service history is a must, panel gaps should all be the same size, overspray on the rubbers, lift the rubbers and rub your nail across if you can feel a definate line its had paint, does it drive in a straight line? does everything work? take the boot carpet out or lift it can you see any repair work? same under the bonnet, is the oil level good and whats the oil like? any cottage cheese around the oil filler cap? any rainbow like film in the water expansion tank? take it to a car park and put it on full lock and drive any knocking? do the same in the other direction, does the clutch bite right at the top of the pedal travel? are the brake discs badly scored? whats the tyres like are they wearing evenly? blue smoke out of the exhaust? turn the ignition on do all the warning lights come on? and then go off once started? is it hpi clear? if you dont feel confident in doing this pay for an inspection from the aa or rac or better still get the vendor to do it! I have still managed to buy a CAT D write off for straight car money by checking myself and not getting an hpi check so i cant stress enough how important that can be, the car was good but i lost a grand when i sold it on 3 months later.... good luck, haggle hard always tell them you have another car to view and walk away if the deal isnt what you want, I have been chased by salemen dropping the price with every step
