Need to change mid policy - recommendations?

Hi guys,

I'm currently insured with Zenith (as I was doing a fair few miles in my old car and switched to them when I got the FN2). Policy runs to February but I thought I'd check with them this morning (in the interests of being honest) if there would be any charge for when I change my wheels to the lovely ones I picked up off of Loxy this week.

Turns out, even though they're Honda wheels (given not FN2 / CTR) wheels they'd no longer be able to insure the car, which is fine as they'll waive the early exit fee as it's neither parties fault. Oh adding the GP kit I've just ordered will also void it too.

But this got me thinking, if I was to put on say 17" winter wheels (which I'm looking at doing) that would also have voided the policy too, even though it was in the interests of safety!

Who should I be looking at changing to right now, who is trustworthy and you'd trust your cars with?

Initially the Wheels will be going on (like for like wheel and tyre size)
Then GP kit fitted (and wing mirror covers changed)
Spare set of 17" winter wheels / tyres )
Wheel spacers depending on the new ones and Winter ones
Mugen quick shift

Over the next year I'm thinking:

Switching to coilovers or eibach based FRS (sooner rather than later)
HKS intake
Manifold back exhaust (I'll bore you guys over in the Type R thread about this at some point)

I already have a double din stereo and Skunk knob which I'm feeling guilty about now! I definitely don't want to get stung every time I feel like changing something.

I'm over 40, have full protected no claims (did have a claim a while back, wasn't my fault and think it was 6-7 years ago now).

My village to Leeds run and being my daughters chauffeur sees me doing around 15k per year tops.

Help as ever, appreciated! From what I'm seeing CKI, Sky, Adrian Flux are options to try?

Stim.

PS Guess I won't' be putting my new wheels on today

Greenlight & Admiral are good. Even Direct Line who i was previously with were happy to insure my old FN2 with a fair few cosmetic mods.

Direct Line were the lowest by a mile this time round. As mine is totally stock I can't vouch for what they do on mods at the moment.
Will find out when I start playing with it next year.

It's worth giving Chris Knot insurance a call too. They quoted me happy the other day. No harm in getting a few quotes.

insurance is a lottery
some are better for some and bad for others

also 17" winter wheels ?
you would be better going smaller wheels with higher profile for the pot holes and such like you get with winter rather than low profiles on the 17"
