Specialist Insurance or not?

My car insurance is currently up for renewal. I have had quite a few quotes but so far nobody has managed to beat my renewal with Elephant(560 for a 10month bonus accelerator). Best quote so far is 665 for an annual policy so there is nothing in it so i would tend to stay with the 10month to get no claims slightly quicker. Excesses are the same in the above quotes.

The issue is i am looking to begin subtly modifying my type r, nothing crazy(well not to begin with) so iv had a few quotes for specialist(mod friendly) insurance like Greenlight and a few others however they have started around 1k for a standard car. Seems a bit much of a difference when iv not touched it yet.

Do i leave it standard and stick with the normal insurance or just have to pay up?

Maybe wait another year for your base policy to become cheaper.

Will it get much cheaper though? They keep saying insurance prices are rising. It may go down a bit but j don't think it will bd by much. Read on here that time of ownership is one of the biggest factors and iv had mine 2 and a half years.

I'm 38 and have insured a group 20 car for ~500, even my track modified car was the same. My Civic is ~350.
