Insurance numbers plucked out of thin air????

Just had my insurance renewal quote in for my Civic 2.2 CTDi and nearly fell off my chair. 402 Fully Comp. I think this is pretty steep considering I insure a 1998 Turbocharged Integra Type R for 415 fully comp with an agreed value of 6.5k.

Last year I paid 320! I have 12yrs no claims. I'll be doing some ringing around this year. For heavens sake, it's only a motorway barge!

Any pointers guys apart from the insurers mentioned at the top of this forum?

Get on confused.com and get some quotes on one place. Saves ringing around.

Is this a renewal quote that they sent through at the end of your term or did you request it?

Just saying as it seems a lot of companies put high renewal quotes out in the hopes that people take them without questioning it.
Ring up and ask why the increase etc...
They seem to drop their price quite quickly.

Insurance companies should be made to explain how they arrive at their prices !

When i took quotes for mine on confused.com i got 84 quotes ranging from 390 to 2500+

Already done the confused.com malarky. Got stupid quotes as usual. I'll ring round in the week

quote me happy, 59 plate 2.2 type s gt - just got a policy with them at 325 ( 2 x no faults and 2 x speeding last 4 years)
Previously was paying 450 (4 yrs no claim) bumped it up to over 500 at renewal with Swiftcover !!
Like people say, they give a decent quote and hope they can ramp it up at renewal, I refuse to play their games and simply shop around then cancel, normally the end up beating my new quote by a pound or two but I usually just tell them they should have come up with their best price in the first place instead of treating me like a turnip
