privellege: beware!!!

If any one is contemplating going with this company be very very wary. I should add this is based on my own personal experince. Their level of so called customer service is abysmal and frankly appaling.

scenario is basically this:

I insured with them last september.... got the stuff through and about a week or so later sent my proff of NCB back... all was well. middle of november some old octagenarian revrsed into me and scuffed the paint on my front splitter. by coincidence the car was going in the next week to get the stonechips on it painted anyway. I told them about it but heard nothing more and didnt claim it... nor did the other party.

middle of december a letter arrived telling me that they had not received NCB proof... sent another copy off and thought no more of it. came in from the early shift today to find a letter from them..... four lines telling me they had cancelled the policy. I called and was told cause they still hadn't received NCB. Explained had sent it twice.... provided name of previous insurer and also policy number. I also phoned e sure who said they would send hard copy but would confirm with Privellege if they cared to call. They did and got it from them as well but guess what... very sorry but cant reinstate the policy. Oh and by the way we want 133 of you cause even though there has been no claim there might be.. so we cancelled it but we still want the cash in case there is!!!! Yes even although it is highly unlikely we will hear after all this time it has to lie open three months....... In other words you owe it even though you dont till they get a claim but we will take it and give you it back eventually...

This begs several question:

Why did they lose NCB proof not once but twice?

Why did they cancel it and not advise of the fact for 5 days? (which incidentally allowed me to run about oblivious of the fact and at risk of getting pulled by RPU and the car getting 165'd costing 125 recovery plus storage plus 300 fine and six points automatically which puts my job at risk given of convicted of criminal offence can be disciplined and sacked)

What would have happened if had had a claim in the five days? No Payout etc no doubt

Needless to say no answers to any of these were forthcoming.

As a kicker to the story I obviously had to call and sort other insurance.... called direct line and after going through the usual third degree was told my account was barred by privellege as I owed 133 and they were all one group!! So not only were they not insuring me they were doing their best to screw up any other insurance as well! All because some spotty minimum wage work experience admin punter cant do their job and process letters! Not only that I have now to declare the fact had a policy cancelled when renew!!!

I got all the usual platitudes yes very sorry we will refer it to complaints etc... but to be honest if they are anything like customer service wont hold my breath. I think the ombudsman will be getting a call!!!

wouldn't give them business now if they were giving away a free Mugen!

You have been warned!

That's a big shame. I emailed documentation of that ilk to my insurers.
Is there a postal rule you can refer to?

Recorded delivery post is a must. Quote the shipping reference if they deny receiving it and put the ball back in there court. Sounds like your long past this option though

I definitely aint letting it go.... the ombudsman wont touch it till they have had an opportunity to put it right however based on experience so far it's not if but when. Still furious this morning the more i think about it.The only upside is I get another meerkat for the collection as went through compare the market.

Wouldn't a former member of UKSF simply abseil into their stronghold and give 'em a lead hornet (with full air support)?

...Or does 'Man in Black' suggest a Stranglers fan?

Online companies will have a link to your NCD that you can download, changed to a new company every year for the past few years and never had an issue, you simply download and then upload to the site, they have always sent an email confirming they have received the proof.mif it is a traditional company they can send through the post.

So it's actually getting it to your new company that looks to be the issue which should be 'recorded'.

if your going from one company to another in same group like direct line privellege etc you dont need to.... other thing to watch is some like aviva for example only gve 5 years max.... so when you leave make sure they note your old entitlement which may be more so new company can use this.

Still waiting on their complaints mob getting in touch.. though theres a shocker!!!

So in your case it's just plain shoddy of Privilege !!!

The BIG problem is that in the future having had insurance refused/cancelled could have a big effect on premiums.
