Question First Honda

Hello!,

I signed up for this a while ago but just recently bought a 2007 Honda Civic Type S GT . Im only just 20 so had so save up so long for it...

Going from a 1.2 clio to a 1.8 Ivtec Civic was much getting used to as well.. I absolutely love the car it's my pride and joy.

Just wondered if anyone knows where i can find a workshop manual for it? ive had a look but cannot find on specifically for that car. I ask as i used to service my old cars myself (i wouldn't dare on this one it looks a bit to much for me).

Also ive just had to have the 6 year major service on it to, Honda did quote me 700 is that normal? . I took it to a local garage for 300. But 700 just seemed crazy to me..

Look forward to making some friends on here.
Thanks!

Hello and welcome to mate.. I was 20 last year when I got mine too and I went from a 1.2 Corsa to a 2.2 Turbo Civic!

Huge jump!

Not sure where you'd get a service manual im afraid.. And in regards to the price, Honda will always be the more expensive option because they use OEM Honda approved parts where a back street garage will just use others. But 700 does seem a bit steep!

Hope this helps

700 doesn't seem right.

I normally pay 230 ish, and that's main dealer price as well.

Major service as in type B service or major as in 75k miles "we change and check everything" service? If the latter, you should be paying around 500-550, if a type B service, around 250, something like that.

On the 75k service, they check valve clearances, filter change, oil change, transmission fluid change, new spark plugs, loads of other junk. Get a complete list of things they do from your dealer and use that list to get a quote elsewhere. The big sting is the spark plugs, they charge a fortune for both the plugs and labour which will be cheaper elsewhere.

Oh, and welcome!

Welcome to Civic ownership.

700 seems high but as others have said, its a major service with valve clearance check, plugs etc. The other thing is if it has not been serviced at a main dealer they will have no record as to what has been done in thepast so will probably quote for everything as per the service schedule recommendations.

Probably too late now but you can buy complete service kits from Cox's and if your not confident, just get your local garage or mechanic to do the service using the genuine Honda parts.
