Hi, not an owner yet !

Hi, just sold an 07 WRX and looking to buy a Type R.
Yesterday I just about had 'er indoors convinced when the salesman at Stratstone told her there were only two rear seat belts , gutted . Will keep plugging away though.

Yes, there are only two rear seats in the CTR.

Will look around to see if it is possible to fit a third belt or lap strap.

Hi and welcome

Yep the CTR only has two belts in the back. Why is that a problem?

It's not possible as the CTR is classed as a 4 seater on the V5.

So although it would be physically possible your insurance would be invalid if you were carrying five people.

I don´t think so.

The car is approved with just the two.

Oddly the Type S has three belts.
There has been some discussion about fitting a Type S rear seat to a Type R.

Technically it will probably fit, but the problem is all the paperwork, approvals etc.

Thanks for the reply s, its another reason for 'er indoors to want to buy a diesel. We also have a twelve year old daughter to ferry round with her friends. I think having four seats is a good enough reason not to use it as a taxi.

Do note that the 3 door cars do not have memory seats, i.e. you have to re-position the seat after tilting it forward.

The diesels can be remapped to 190-ish bhp.

You'll just have to sneak out and buy the CTR then!

It should be possible to have the V5 changed, in just the same way as you can if you change the colour of the car..
The rear seats (apart from the red cloth) are identical to the CTS and must have the anchor points available

I think it's a bit different as the manufacturer class it as a four seater.

Although it is daft they didn't fit a third seat belt, as you say the rear seats are the same as a CTS.

Wink Oohhhh ...

Much though I hate to say it ...

As I interpret your personal position \ circumstances ...

You'd probably be best off with a "FoS" 5-Door EX - then get it 're-chipped' to 190 bhp ...

Dimplyred, We have had a test drive of both an R and S. The sensible thing to do would be to buy an S (insurance , tax , economy, particularly after a WRX ). But after having driven and listened to a CTR Its very hard to give in and buy another model. Most of the time there are only ever two in the car . Most people expect to get five in a hatch occasionally.
