Get my Civ in two days

Hi all,

I haven't posted before, even though I've virtually read every thread in the last few weeks. THANK YOU ALL!

I get my Civic 2.2 NHB EX in a couple of days! Can't wait! I guess it will be one of the last 2008's, couldn't wait til '09 as I prefer the grill on the '06+ model anyway.

Few thoughts....
1. Civinfo is one of the main reasons why I've chosen a Civic. Can't Honda to spring for the server/hosting costs for the site? It would represent a fraction of there marketing costs, they could even have there own forum.

2. Why don't Honda do an automatic Civ Diesel? They must be one of the last car manufacturers not to offer this as an option.

3. I've had loads of different hire cars recently. One of the firms told me a little known secret about which side the filler cap will be on a car... Basically the little pump symbol that indicates the fuel guage always has a petrol hose attached to it. Whichever side on the symbol the hose is on is the same side as your filler cap!

Happy daz,

Phazed

Hi and Welcome to Civinfo

1. The reason Honda don't contribute, I guess, is because Civinfo wants to be independent from the manufacturer so that we can discuss things freely. As you will have seen the Forum has both positive and negative threads and some very negative to Honda - being independent is the only way this can be allowed. I am not sure if Honda would accept some of the comments if they 'contributed' to the costs.

2. Good question

3. In the civic there is an arrow pointing in the direction the filler cap is

Anyway welcome to the site, do post some photo's of your new car, which is in the best colour . And of course any questions please feel free to ask.

Welcome to the forum! Its a very helpful place to be!

Had my Civic for 1 year 1 month and half now and I still love it!

RE the fuel filler cap, is that when looking from the front of the car or the back?!

You chose the RIGHT colour too - but recommend you get it waxed or something to protect the paint!

Thanks all for the comments, DeanFYoung, its from the drivers seat point of view, as thats where you can see the little symbol.

Actually this is not correct - in the Civic the pump symbol has an arrow on it which indicates which side of the car the filler cap is. As can be seen from below this is the opposite side to the hose

Hehe, well not having a honda yet, i hadn't looked. But it did seem to apply to the five or six different hire cars I had. It helped me when I had to fill up and couldn't remember which side the darn thing was on. I recon it should work on other brands without the arrow indicator on the dash.

I've done about 40000 miles a year for the last six years and have generally had a short term pool car or hire car. I've had a Golf, Passat, Focus, Auris, RAV4, Mondeo (newer and older), Vectra, numerous Astras, C4, 407 (horrible!), 307, Fiesta ST & ghia, 318 (older shape), Nissan Note (more horrible!), a transit and a Fiat which was awful! It seemed to hold true for all of them.
Interestingly, non of the hire car firms or the company pool EVER has a Civic. Non of my colleagues have ever had a Civic. This is great news for second hand buyers!

It's also great being independant, but "Feedback is a gift" Honda. Just because members speak freely about Honda doesn't mean Honda shouldn't contribute to the upkeep of the site. BBC news frequently report bad news about themselves (Ross/Brand etc).

24 hours left now... Should be doing hoovering, washing or shopping. Nah, cars and the web are best!

Yeah but regardless of what sort of light the BBC show themselves in, we still by law have to buy their product (TV license) which is a disgrace. Honda can't force us to buy and so endorsing a site like this could prove damaging, plus they would probably want to interfere and it would no longer remain impartial/unofficial.
