Finally Arrived!

Picked up the new beast on Saturday. The dealership had done a pretty good job prepping the car.

The alloys weren't as perfectly refurbed as I'd like but this is only when looking closely. And I can still make out some faint dents I asked to be removed, but again, only because I know they were there.

One thing we did notice is that the side protectors we had fitted don't quite meet in the middle, with a gap almost three fingers wide. Has anyone got these on their car, we've told them its looks wrong and showed the brochure pic, but the salesman wasn't quite sure what an "actual fit" would resemble? Any help guys?

Otherwise all is well, still cannot for the life of me work out the Sat Nav and voice control. It also speaks German occasionally on voice command. Really no idea why.

Also does anyone know how to:

1. Get the HFT to auto pair with my mobile?
2. 3D mapping for Nav?
3. Safety camera alerts?

Cheers,

Shost

p.s. Look out for me on the M6, A14, M11 this evening

Post a picture of the side protectors so we can have a look.

Take a look at the sat nav FAQ section in the wiki.

Congrats on the car. I think posting some pics will help us know what you mean about the protectors.

Also time to take a look at the manual, I'm afraid

Will do, alas its raining quite a lot, so'll have to wait till morning!

The hand book is larger than my old text books, the even the iPod book is about as thick as a short novel. Looks like some bed time reading for me then.

Cheers for the help, great response!

there is a very small space! When Im trying hard, its possible to put my little finger between side protectors...about one cm width.

Here are the pics, hope they are helpful.

The salesman called back and was adament that this is the correct fitting. Apparently its the prevent them catching and being pulled off by opening the door. I'm sure it isn't. Its probably only about 2cm out, but it looks a little DIY to me..

If anyone could send a pic of what theirs look like it'll be appreciated!

Cheers,

Shost

p.s sorry bout the quality of the pics, but its raining quite hard still and didn't wanna get wet.

not sure if you can see mine very well here, but hope it helps

EDIT - looking at it closer, it does seem slightly far apart, there is a gap so that it doesnt catch, but not that big, my picture is a bit small but you can see its not as far as your picture

Eco display
There shouldn't be quite as big a gap as that.

Here is a picture of mine - little bit easier to see as my car is silver.

Nice car mate. Hope you enjoy it!!

Trip back to the stealers for the side strips I think.......plus to get him to sort the alloys properly.

Don't take NO for an answer

side protectors should fit right up to the edge of the door, yours are to far apart.
probably fitted by a tech, not by an engineer. engineers can think outside the box, techs dont think they just fit parts.

I'd definately take that back to the dealer shost. Take the pictures from this thread and show them how they should be fitted.

Cheers guys,

At least I know its not me being unreasonable. Its the lack of professionalism that annoys the most. Why couldn't they just put their hand up and admit they made a mistake!?

Agree with the above, I reckon the techie put the one on wrong, but then had to copy his mistake with the adjacent strip, then to the opposite side.

Unfortunately the dealer is about 200 miles away so I'll putting up with it for a while, till I can get it back to them. At least they match. I jus hope its not to big a job to refit them.
