Thumbs up Newbie help please - '08 or wait?

Hi everyone. I signed up recently as this forum has been a brilliant find in researching my possible Civic purchase. Having tried an A3, a 118d, and decided Focus too common, I borrowed 2.2 EX for a weekend without expecting to be impressed (especialy having seen the recent What Car mag comparison).

Not only did I get on really well with it but wife, step daughter and her boyfriend all loved it - even the dog enjoyed the huge boot!

So the question is - do I order a 2008 model (just Blueish, Silver and Galaxy Grey left if I want leather too) or wait for the 2009?

I don't mind the new nostrils too much, though only have your great pics to go on. And I like the idea of the auto-dipping mirror and the other minor enhancements. Would probably go for the 09 EX GT, as fancy all the toys. It's my first company car for about 10 years.

Can get an 08 by mid-Jan (though the supplying dealer was too mean to throw in the mirror as an extra). Or maybe get a spanking new MY09 on an 09 plate in March. What would you do?

Happy Christmas to all, and thanks for a fantastic forum.

If you are going to do a few miles in it, I'd wait for the 09 purely for the more compliant ride and the slight reduction in road noise.

There are plenty already made sitting around waiting for a buyer - a good dealer should be able to help you get one fairly promptly.

Fully agree with Pottsy. Availibility will be fine for 3rd week of Jan 09.

Good luck

I would be guided by our "Main Man's" above post.
He has tested some of the 09 models.

09 for the USB connector if nothing else.

I am sure there is a whole bunch of "continuous improvement upgrades" under the skins of the 09s.

I would wait as an 09 facelift model will have a higher resale value than a 08 model when the time comes to trade in/sell in the future.

and welcome

I would be inclined to go with Pottsy - he has driven the new 09 car and was impressed!

If it's not his and he gets to choose then that's great.

Thanks everyone! Looks like '09 it is then, and I take the point about getting all the mods, not just the listed ones. Looks like I might get one sooner than I thought too. Shame the new Accord colour Buran Silver isn't available.

Keeping my fingers crossed that no significant price rises emerge in January, and that the emissions might even come in a notch lower, to help the Benefit In Kind tax rate.

Thanks again.

NickS, I have been in the same situation with both my last 2 Civics. I also waited 3 months for a new March 1st reg. I am glad I did. The time will go quick and for the sake of a few more weeks you will have a nice 09 plate.
