Hello!!

Hi everyone,

I'm a Portuguese guy living in Prague. I stumbled across civinfo while looking for more information about Civics. I decided I'm going to buy one already, probably very soon. All the information I already read on this website has been very helpful.

I'm getting a bit addicted to civinfo already

Thanks for the welcome! I'm getting the '09 5D 1.8 Sport. The version sold in Czech Republic: Modely - Civic 5D 2009 - Výbava a ceník - Honda.cz (it's in Czech, but it's possible to understand some of it.

I'm not sure whether to go for auto or manual, and whether to get HID headlights or not. Any ideas?

As for auto or manual, drive both and see what you think. I've driven both the manual and i-Shift, and decided on the i-Shift with its superb steering wheel paddles.

Hi Duarte,

I can't comment on the gear box as I have never used the automatic version of the Civic. I have however driven several different spec Civics with the manual gearbox and all of them are extremely nice (the best being the one in the CTR once the 3rd gear issues were sorted with it). However I did have HID's on my old Primera Sport+ and loved them, they did make a big difference to driving at night. I wish the CTR had them but a simple upgrade of the bulbs improved things a lot but they still don't match upto the clarity of the HID's

Either way I am sure you will enjoy driving your spaceship once you get it, regardless of what options you go for

I guess the spec will be similar to here in Poland but if you can get the Hids then I would go for it.

My next car will be automatic simply because I spend a lot of time in the city in stop/start traffic so I will be getting an automatic next. It depends on what you want I guess.

When i look at the Polish list of cars for 2009 it lists, for the 1.8 the i-shift and the AT transmission so it maybe the same in Czech. If you want performance then I guess the i-shift would be the better.
