Unhappy USB control box query

Ok, so I my usb port, control box and cables arrived from the breakers. The wire which connects the control box to the cd changer port had been cut, so i got the soldering iron out. Anyway I linked it all up and plugged in the ipod. The ipod screen shows that it's docked but i can't change the mode on the headunit.

Any advice? Could it be my soldering or is the headunit not compatible. I have a facelift model with an aux input so thought it may work?!!

Any pictures of what you've done so far, do you mean you can't change the mode on the head unit to the usb function?

I've taken it out the car so i could put the dash back together but basically its a cd changer lead going into the control box then usb lead coming from that.

I wouldn't waste your time & money on this, get a double din instead. The leap in functionality & capability is far beyond what I got from the USB on mine.
