Aux In Adaptor Cable for 57/08 Civic 1.4 SE

Hi all,

Apologies if I'm reinventing the wheel here but I'm a little confused ...

I have a new 57 plate/08 chassis Civic and a Revo digital radio.

According to the very nice man who came to fit the radio at the weekend, the new Civics have a completely different Aux socket to the previous ones and I've been advised that it'll take at least 6 months for an adaptor cable/lead to come out.

Do you know if the socket in my Civic Honda bespoke only, or do you know if there is an adaptor available?

Finding it difficult to cope with the drive to work down the M11 without Planet Rock in the car ...

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Cheers
Kat

Hi Kat

unfortunately, he's at least half right...
The new Civ doesn't have an easy aux in - and we have been waiting and waiting and waiting for a 'proper' solution

The good news is that there are a number of people who have found ways round it - and you're in the right forum to read all about it

OK - thanks, that's great news.

However, I was all over the forum like a rash yesterday before I posted, as I wanted to make sure I wasn't asking the same question for the thousandth time. Please forgive me if I'm being dim, but I didn't think I found a definitive.

Most of the threads I checked out were for iPods - and Dension told me that they definitely wouldn't be able to help - however, mine's a Digi radio adaption kit. Also, I couldn't find any reference to the latest Civic models, whereas I was advised by the radio fitter that these have a different Aux In to all previous ones.

ICD-Ltd.com thought that an adaptor for this model wouldn't be commercially available for 6 months (I also contacted a couple of off-line companies).

Please could you point me in the direction of the title of the thread I should be looking at, and I promise not to ask any stupid questions for a long time ...?

Thanks again,
Kat

I have an Acoustic solutions ICS100 DAB tuner in my car What you need is the Connects2 Connects 2,Car Audio integration specialists adapter. This plugs into the "aux" Actually the CD Changer port on the back of the head unit (if you have the satnav there's an extra cable from Honda required) the Revo unit than plugs in to the Connects 2 and you access it by switching your headunit to CDC (CD Changer) works a ttreat as well.

Many thanks - I did wonder if that was the answer but I had been specifically advised to find an adaptor cable - and all the firms I approached yesterday said they couldn't help.

If you hadn't have replied I think we would have taken the plunge and kept our fingers crossed - but it's good to have it confirmed.

Much appreciate your help.

Cheers

Hi all,

I just thought I'd let you know for reference, in case anyone else comes looking for the same kit ...

I spoke to Connects2 this morning, who told me that no, they definitely do not have anything at present that is compatible with the latest Civic models.

They expect to have something in 'a couple of months'.

Thanks all however, for your prompt and helpful replies.

Cheers

I've a good new for you but I did have a written confirmation (by mail) that the Dension gateway 100 or 300 are compatible for the new civic as wall as the dension XcarLink.

I think that's the right product for you

Hi Noel,

Many thanks for that - that's very interesting, since I spoke to Dension yesterday and they also said that they definitely didn't have anything that was compatible yet. As did icd-ltd.com - who didn't expect to be able to help for 6 months.

I'll check those out on the Dension website and see if they've got any pics of the actual input fitting.

I've got a 57 plate/08 chassis Type-S and the Connects2 unit mentioned in the other threads work fine in my car.

Thanks Jayyaj (and Cylon).

Sorry if I sounded dismissive - the boyfriend remains an unbeliever that this will work, from comparing the plugs on the picture with the input in the car. Not sure how it could be clearer however from your post above, Jayyaj ... !

But I really appreciate all the advice.

Cheers

Maybe Dension UK and France have not the same Info
But Dension confirm that they have the product adapted to our car...

Have you tried SOI Communications? They have a loom for patching in the Parrot Handsfree systems. They might have developed a similar cable for the aux by now.

Otherwise it's the Connects 2 box you will probably need. It won't totally integrate into the system. It won't show info on the OEM Display for example, or work the steering mount controls but it will provide RCA & 3.5mm input for an auxilliary unit such as an Ipod or DAB radio.

When your guys are saying that they definitely won't fit it is probably because they aren't 100% compatible (see display/controls).

When you say they won't fit the new models I think there may be some confusion over whether you mean an FK/FN (new shape) as opposed to the EK (old shape) or the 2008 model to the 2006+ model. As far as I'm aware Honda haven't changed Head Units over the past 3 years. I may be wrong though.
