Question '09 Type S how to install USB

HI,

I'm new to Civinfo and this is my first post

I have recently bought a '09 Type S. I have an iPhone 3GS and currently its just plugged in via AUX as it does not come with USB.

I have tried looking through the forums but what I would like to know is how to add a USB connection or iPod dock so I can plug in my iPhone and control it through the stereo.

I have had a look at various connection boxes but they only seem to do up to the '08 model

Does anyone know what will work with a '09 Type S model ??

Thanks

Daz

Send a message via MSN to Josh1987
There should be a lead in the arm rest that plugs into USB labeled connection next to Aux IN

THen you plug your Iphone/Ipod usb lead into that

Does anyone have the '09 Type S GT with USB as standard??

The one I saw in the showroom had USB built into the arm rest but it doesn't say it comes with it on the Honda website

Thats crazy that the official Honda site says nothing about USB in the GT. Guess I'll try the local Honda dealer to see if they can get the USB part but no doubt it'll cost an arm and a leg

I bought an '09 S-GT second hand from the dealer, USB is standard. Mine didn't come with the adaptor so I phoned Honda Customer Service and they said that the adaptor should come with any 2nd hand '09 from a dealer and told the dealer to send me one free of charge.

There's a thread somewhere I'll track down with the part number

Part number 39114-TFO-003, they'll try and charge you 54 for it though!

This is the adaptor that goes between your USB lead and armrest USB socket.

Think you may of misunderstood. Its not the cable i'm missing. I dont have the GT version so I don't have the armrest USB socket.

I'm just trying to find alternatives to get USB in the car or an iPod connector. Or even find the armrest USB socket part so I can fit one in my car

The only thing that seems to be available is one of the Parrot systems but that just looks messy

Thanks for the info though

I have found the original Honda iPod connection kit on Lings Honda : Welcome and the part number is 08A28SMRKIT. This is the official accessory from Honda. Unfortunatley because it is the official Honda solution it costs about 169, time to save the pennies!

I don't like the ideal of the controls hanging off the steering wheel, plus that's twice the price of the Dice R3, every little helps !
