Speakers cutting out

Has anyone known upgraded speakers to cut out when run from standard HU.
I have a 57 plate EX so it's the sat nav HU running some rather nice alpine components. Issue is last week the speakers just stopped working twice on the same day. HU was still responding just no sound. And the only way to get them going again was an engine restart
