Question HELP! Pioneer MVH-AV290BT + Backup camera

Hey there guys,

The only thing that makes me feel like my 8th gen civic is outdated is the fact that the head unit doesn't support bluetooth and consequentially hands-free calls and bluetooth audio streaming.
So I've decided to install a Pioneer MVH-AV290BT and, since i'm at it, i might aswell install a backup camera (one those that go for about 20 at amazon).

I took a look at some guides here and went on to order:
  • Piooner MVH-AV290VT
  • LHD dashboard fascia kit
  • Connects2 steering wheel patches
  • Backup camera

I'll be doing this will the help of a friend who's an experienced bodyshop worker and he'll be the one disassembling all the dash parts since I'm afraid I would break some dash clips.

Before they arrive (the fascia will come from China so it take its time to arrive) i have a few questions that i like to see answered:
  1. How should i route the camera cable from the back till the Pioneer Head Unit? (I know the are wireless options but i don't want to go that route)
  2. My Civic is the 2009 facelift version and already has Ipod/USB and a 12v adapter within the driver's armrest safe, is it possible to make these work with the Pioneer Head Unit? All i need is to plug them correcty right? Or will i need any sort of adapter?
  3. I don't like the microphone installed behind the steering-wheel, so I'll install it near the rear-view mirror. I know the pillar upholstery must be removed to route it close to the dash, but from there how can i route it to the head unit?
  4. What's the best position of the boot lid to secure the camera? is it near the plate lightning? I am supposed to insert the cable through the plate lightning and right?

If anyone is able to shed some light on me i would be most thankful.

This guide is applicable to my camera installation right?

Hey mate,

I'm planning to do the same on my 2008 Civic. Can you please share your thoughts about it? I almost have everything I need, I even want to install the same Pioneer unit, but what gave me a headache was to retain steering wheel controls with the new unit.

Thanks!!
