Aftermarket Components and crossovers

Is there a reason why when folks have replaced the front components that they wire from the main door speaker and use the cross over off that wire, rather than just replace the mid and and tweeter using the existing cable feeds?

Thanks
Dave

If there is then the high frequencies will have likely been removed from the mid/bass door speaker so fitting a crossover to that will be fraught with lack of tweeter HF stuff.

That's what I'm thinking, need to dig a bit deeper and see if I can find a wiring diagram for the audio system.

Thanks for the replies guys.
