1 din CD head unit behind the ashtray cover?

Am I mad? Do you think I can squeeze a 1 din CD head unit behind the ashtray door? I realise the ashtray won't be useable as an ashtray any more, but I have a top banana head unit I'd like to hide away...

Thanks in advance

The ashtray is roughly the size of a fag packet, not sure how you'd even consider that.

I meant the whole ashtray area, looks din-size?

Glove box would be too far away. Cheers for replying

Ashtray is just in front of the cup holders by the handbrake and behind the gear lever. You mean the storage cubby hole in front of the gear lever. I think it would be a challenge to fit it there but you never know.

It's only 20 minutes work to remove the centre console to see if the cubby slot would be big enough. I just can't really picture how big the slot is.
